A birthday celebration turned into a series of special moments for the people who help make our campus run!

After receiving money for his birthday, Mike Smigen ’27 decided to put it toward something kind for St. Lawrence’s dining staff. With help from his @ato_slu brothers, @kappaslu and @kdsigmaslu, Mike purchased flowers and delivered them to members of our dining services team. Any flowers left over were shared with other staff members around campus.

His explanation: “I just wanted to do something nice on campus.”

A simple gesture, but one that brought a little extra appreciation to the people who work hard to take care of our Laurentian community.

Thank you, Mike, ATO, Kappa, and KDS, for spreading a little kindness around campus. ❤️🤎 #stlawrenceu

Sorority Spotlight!!!!!

Next up is Kappa Delta Sigma!! Their philanthropic partners are Gardenshare & Bittersweet-Milkweed Collaborative Farm! Their chapter values are friendship, concern for human dignity & respect and their colors are green & yellow!!

President Maddy Mcglinn says: I whole heartedly believe that all women should have a place they can feel like themselves. KDS is that place for me. Growing up, I went to an all girls camp and that filled my heart. My camp community was so wonderful, I never thought I needed the Greek community - but I was wrong. In the fall of my sophomore year, I figured there was no harm in rushing and seeing what I could get out of it. Little did I know, this amazing community of women was here for me. What I didn’t realize is that you can’t have too many communities that support you and I can’t think of a better home for myself. The KDS girls have supported me, helped me and push me to grow in many ways. Being in community of all girls made my SLU experience better than I could have ever imagined. I am so grateful for everything KDS has given me and I cannot wait to see what else is in store for us! If you are on the fence about rushing I urge you to give it a try and see what can come out of it. I promise you it won’t disappoint.

SLU has four sororities and two fraternities that students can join after their First Year! 🏡
