The Jack Line (7A)
Boulder Garden, Fish Hoek

The Entheogen exit for Queen and King Line. Silly FA by Kealan (and I) but so worth it hehe. If you happen to find yourself at Boulder Garden. This is fun.

📍 Rocklands, Cederberg

Last weekend. I feel so blessed to live in such a beautiful country surrounded by such incredible people ❤️ Nature loving legends 😋

🦎 Climbing ramble: We sadly didn’t capture my Tea Arch send. Entirely my fault - I thought it was going to be my warmup attempt 😅 This was on our last morning. It took me two sessions to get the route. I really struggled not to cut too soon coming over the lip. The toe was tricky, but so satisfying! 😍 It’s such a fun sequence. I’m so stoked to have it as my first 7b 😊

Excited for the next challenge 🦥🐒🌟

Long due post from two weeks in Sardinia last October with a wonderful group of friends, climbing a muerte 🔥
In a random sequence:
- the sufferfest of climbing 'sette anni di solitudine' on punta Giradili. Slightly sandbagged
- Kealan on the exposed traverse of Cromosomi Corsari, leading of the pitch played rock-paper-scissors with Roz the Boss
- one ice cream a day, keeps the doctor away. Happy kids!
- there's always a light at the end of the tunnel
- la Grande famiglia 🫶
- heavy weights on the rock 🐂
- Luca Sei per me, Numero 1 enjoying the sharp rock of Pedraforca
- Vitello the barber 💈
- who the hell put that ditch there while I was reversing!?!?
- Luca Sei per ma Numero 1 on Zanahoria, one of the best routes in the island IMO
- some rocks and some airtime
- Karaoke in Ulassai gone a bit wild
- la Grande Famiglia always reunited for dinner
- TZAaaaaaaaaa 🔥

Sardegna ❤️

What a trip!

Climbed some amazing multipitches high above the sea, the mistral blowing the sea salt in our nostrils at the belays and the waves crashing on the cliffs beneath us: one of the most rewarding experiences ever!

Climbed on some crazy cave roofs, where the 3D climbing experience resembled more that of indoor bouldering than that of sport climbing on real rock. Even managed to flash my first 7a!

Hiked 25km to the highest point of Sardinia on our “rest day”, and experienced the wonderful Sardinian backcountry and its trails that exist only on the maps.

But what I cherished the most was definitely the company of stoked and nice people with whom I shared this adventure with, old and new friends that made this trip as memorable as it was. Rarely have I felt this at home so far away from it.

Big thank you guys for the beautiful time we had together!

SPRINGTIME 🌺🌻🌼🪷💐🌹
————-
Did you know that at least a few species of leeches have become endangered due to over-harvesting for medicinal use?

And although medical leeches are a bit of a joke associated with the medieval period, less people are aware that it’s a practice that continues to this day.

Turns out, there’s scientific evidence to back up the use of these bloodsucking worms. We no longer use them to ‘balance the four humours’ as a medieval physician might, but rather to stimulate blood flow, often after surgeries.
