VERY. BEST. SUMMER.
This VBS is one for the books. We had the DREAM TEAM and it showed. Kids experiencing Jesus for the first time will always get me weepy. There was a special depth to this one- kids leaned in and sought Jesus with everything. Countless testimonies are still coming in of life change that parents see in a matter of days. Volunteers caught the heart of reaching every kid by making them feel seen. More importantly, hundreds of kids know Jesus and are mobilized to change the world. So thankful I get to be a part of this and have a core team that truly like a family. I couldn’t have done it without @_kimshort_ every step- you are truly a GIFT and this was the most fun. This is just the beginning 💫

Let’s try this again. Half my photos got deleted.

How do I even begin to explain what these last 5½ years have meant to me? So many memories with my staff, volunteer teams, VBS, camps, student leadership… so much to share and reflect on.

To Pastors Kevin and Joelene, thank you for seeing me and believing in me. You are incredible shepherds to your staff and have loved us so deeply. Cody and I are forever changed because of your leadership.

Pastor Jon, thank you for loving us and being a constant voice of encouragement in our lives. You gave us space to lead and shine in our giftings, and for that we are forever grateful.

To the NextGen Central Team, it’s been an honor to work alongside you all. So many laughs and memories from NGLAs, volunteer nights, Christmas parties, and so much more. I will cherish all of it.

Vanessa, I am so proud of you. It has been such a joy working with you. We just got each other. So many meetings, events, and moments I will never forget. You have been an amazing Assistant Kids Pastor and truly my armor bearer. So many laughs, tears, and “we’ll figure it out” or “it’s fine” moments. I know God will continue to lead and guide you. I’m so excited for you. Love you so much. Always in your corner, cheering you on.

To my Kids Team, it has been an honor to serve alongside our Kids Directors across all campuses. God always brought the right hearts and servant leaders to Journey Kids. Thank you for trusting me and leaning in. I will miss you all greatly.

Kim, I know our time was short, but it meant the world to serve with you. You are amazing, and I know God has incredible plans for you. You have been a gift to Journey Kids and will continue to be. Much love.

To all the team leads and volunteers across all our campuses, where do I even begin? You are the backbone of Journey Kids and my heroes. Thank you for saying yes to the next generation. You truly are making a difference. Thank you for loving our kids and embracing us like family. We will miss you all so much.

Grateful for this season and excited for what’s ahead. Thank you for your prayers!
Excited for what God has for Journey, Highpoint, and the Duffs. 🤍✌🏼

Best. Week. Ever.

I’m still in awe of what God did this week at VBS. It was so much more than just an event — it was giving hope and Jesus to these kids. I couldn’t be more proud of all our campuses and what He did in kids lives this week.

To my campus leads and staff: thank you for the countless hours and months of preparation. You showed excellence in everything you did. Thank you for leading with such heart, passion, and vision. I know there were so many things behind the scenes that no one will ever see — the late nights, the endless emails and texts, all the volunteer meetings — you truly are the best of the best.

To my core team at the Kenosha Campus: where do I even begin? The way you serve others is inspiring. Thank you for pouring your whole heart into every area — from decor, crafts, games, snacks, missions, guest experience, and beyond. You did an incredible job, and I am so blessed and honored to have you on this team.

To the hundreds of volunteers: you showed up, you served, and you made a lasting impact on these kids. What you did this week was so much more than volunteering — you made a difference for the Kingdom. Thank you for giving your time, your heart, and your energy. We truly couldn’t do this without you. You are my heroes!

To my pastors: thank you for investing in the next generation and for your heart to make a difference in these kids’ lives. You don’t just talk about it — you live it out in how you love and care for your staff and your church. Your encouragement and prayers have made such a difference. Thank you!

To my hubby: thank you for being the ultimate hype man! Thank you for cheering me on and holding down the fort at home these last few weeks. Love you! I’m also so proud of my Gracie girl and Grant as they got to serve and use their gifts this week.

Finally, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and praise to God for what these kids accomplished. They raised over $8,200 for our Kingdom Builders project with World Serve — absolutely amazing! They caught the vision and ran with it!

Here are some of my favorite photos and moments from this incredible week — enjoy 🤍
