The $500 Challenge | Ep.5

Day 76 of posting every single day ✅

These are some of the things I notice as a Table Tennis Coach while still being an active player. Not easy to see yourself from the third person’s pov, and you need to always have an open mind, an open heart, to receive feedback about your own game.

Not everything will be true, useful or practical for where you currently are at, so you just need to filter what is valuable to your game now, then go get to work on it.

For me, it’s definitely being more adaptable to different situations in the games especially against a wide variety of opponents. I’m working on my arsenal of serves & follow up combinations but definitely have to see how each opponent responds an adjust accordingly.

Also learning to how to stay relaxed between points and bring in the tunnel-vision focus (lock in as they say) during the point itself. And sometimes, learning to not be so tense and just enjky the game. No one wants to lose, but reminding yourself to have fun and that it’s a blessing to be able to play helps you loosen up and that in itself will help you play better.

just the story of a boy who loved 🏓

Day 74 of posting every single day ✅

I was a late starter. Happened to chance upon Table Tennis when my friend introduced me to the CCA back in secondary school (Behold the burning bush 😉🔥🌲)

Literally started from the bottom, was so *ss couldn’t even make it for the reserve team. Found a 🏓 coach but got laughed at by my peers because I still couldn’t beat them.

Kept losing and losing, but kept my love for the game close to my heart. It kept me going when the journey felt like it was going nowhere.

Started working part-time to fund my table tennis training, eventually in Poly, was able to experience overseas training in China for the first time.

And as they say, the rest is history …

Although I’m still far away from my “dream”, the love for the game still burns strong as ever.

I’m thankful for all the people I’ve met along the way, be it coaches, teammates, opponents, good & bad and everything in between, have helped shaped me to who I have become and who I will be moving forward.

The road still may seem as bleak ever but I only trust the process and believe that God will make a way when there seems to be no way.

The dream that was placed in my heart, for a reason 🫶✨

If you ever felt like you were behind on your journey, welcome, you’re not alone.

Nestled in New Bahru, Top Table is what you get when you combine table tennis with a social bar, food & drinks !

Opened by my friend, Nick, it’s a super chill space to hang out, enjoy the vibes, and play some table tennis in a totally different environment.

Definitely a must visit for all my international 🏓 friends when you come to Singapore 🙂‍↕️ as important if not more than the Merlion hehe :P
