Keeble Observatory at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland is a research, outreach, and teaching telescope for the college's Department of Physics, Engineering, and Astrophysics.

It's also the largest telescope of its kind between Washington, D.C., and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The campus hosts weekly public stargazing sessions on Thursdays during the academic semester, weather permitting.

You can even play a form of cosmic bingo, marking off cards with everything they see.

Beautiful evening for some star gazing. But the real hit was Jupiter and her Galilean moons.

In honor of the Winter Solstice, we turn the spotlight to entry no. 51, the Keeble Observatory at Randolph-Macon College. For you River City stargazers out there, there’s no better place to peek at the Cosmos than the Center of the Universe. Once the Spring semester begins next month, keep an eye out for announcements from @keebleobservatory about stargazing sessions for the public.
