At dusk, on Saturday 28th November, the kids will stage a joyous take over of Powerhouse Parramatta. And you are invited to join. This is Swell of Stars - a glorious, interstellar procession led and directed by young people from across Western Sydney. My wife Aimée Falzon will sing on the rooftop as our elder son Salvatore joins me in reading passages from the book that he himself inspired. Transformed into avatars, demons, galaxies and meteorites, young folks will then carve a path through Powerhouse Parramatta. In costumes designed by Keerthi Subramanyam, the kids will proceed as a brilliant constellation of stars, finally arriving at the river below. And we want you to join! If you're a kid, you can do costume workshops with us over three Saturdays in November and be part of the lead constellation. Parents and guardians, you can apply via the link in my bio. If you're an adult - or a kid who prefers not be in the limelight - you can do a one-off session at the Powerhouse to make your own wearable. And you can join the procession from the sidelines. Together, we'll assemble our own private universe. We'll transform the Powerhouse into a galaxy of stars. And at the climax, the first sculpture by Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran will be born. You'll be invited to send secrets to the sculpture, becoming part of its evolving story. This is going to be a big, beautiful celebration - and it's for one night only. Details are all in the link in my bio. -- A Swell of Stars is the first season of performances and workshops developed alongside S. Shakthidharan’s memoir Gather Up Your World In One Long Breath. Some very special guest musicians to be announced soon! Presented and commissioned by Powerhouse. Video by Powerhouse. Music by Aimée Falzon and S. Shakthidharan.

This November, I'll begin an artwork at Powerhouse Parramatta that takes one full year to complete. It'll involve my family, hundreds of local western Sydney community, and some legends of our artistic world. (It feels surreal to even write this!) From spring 2026 to spring 2027, a series of large scale, communal performances will reimagine and expand my memoir Gather Up Your World In One Long Breath. As the Earth completes one circle of the sun, ceremony, ritual, conversation and community will ebb and flow through the museum. My dear friend Mavin Khoo (from the UK) will be a key lead artist, alongside my mother Anandavalli, my wife Aimée Falzon and sculptor (also dear friend) Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran. Some very special guests will be announced over the year ahead. We begin this November handing over power to the kids. Aimée's and I's son, Salvatore, will lead a procession of children in a temporary takeover of the Museum. They will move through the Powerhouse as a constellation of stars, with costumes designed by Keerthi Subramanyam. Tomorrow I'll share more information about this artwork and how your own kiddies can get involved! For some years now, I've been thinking about a different way to do art. A different way to do storytelling. I've found myself yearning to make art in a way that sits with the rhythms of the natural world - with our seasons, with the flow of community. Art that dissolves some of the boundaries between community and artists. This is my response. It's as much a journey over time as it is an artwork - and I can't wait to take that journey with you all. Commissioned and presented by Powerhouse, this is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime project that only a space like the Powerhouse could hold. I am grateful for their care and stewardship. We've been dreaming this one up for years. Link in bio. Video by Powerhouse. Music by Aimée Falzon.

65 people. One very special place. And a whole lot of love. 🌿🥂 What a day at The Stables! People travelled from across the Southern Highlands, the South Coast and Sydney to celebrate spring, share a feast and see what’s happening at my little creative corner of Throsby Park. Glorious sunshine, a table groaning with food, wonderful conversations, old friends, new faces and children making themselves right at home! 😂❤️ When I imagined opening the doors of The Stables, I hoped it might become more than just a place to paint. A place to gather, create, connect and share ideas. On Sunday, I caught a glimpse of what that might look like. To everyone who travelled, brought something, lent a hand or simply turned up — thank you. You made this day. I’m still smiling! 🌸 Get involved. Join a class. Come and create. There’s so much more to come at The Stables! Julie x https://www.julielynch.org/study-stables-studios #TheStablesStudios #ThrosbyPark #SouthernHighlands #MossVale #JulieLynchArtist

I’m so proud of this show, so much incredible work from so many amazing artists. We wanted to make this play for people who struggle with Hamlet, to make this text feel new and create theatre that doesn’t feel safe or comfortable. I’ve wanted to be part of something like this since I started working in theatre, to do this with @jack12tree and @ms.badnass is the only way it could have been done. Thank you @suzielou0804 for making the ambition of this play possible. And thank you @lucypodstolski and @emmavwright for believing in our crazy ideas.
