A range of posters from @mateactnow. “The breadth and variations of responses in this initiative are both heartwarming (from a design-nerd POV) to eye-opening...as per its real intention, highlighting environmental damage. Extremely well-curated and planned out - the variation of responses is a great gauge as to where we are a nation of designers and what we have to say.” — Kātoitoi, the Aotearoa Design Archive 2020 —— @tinatouli @mgiesser @grafik.nz @loveandmoney.agency @manual_creative @keenasfolk @studiodbd @johnjcuster @tsieske

Link in bio to listen 🔗 In the first episode of our Inclusive Design mini series, we’re joined by Martin Ford from The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (@oz_innovation) and Louise Helliwell from Folk (@keenasfolk) to unpack what Inclusive Design means to them — and how it shows up in practice. Martin brings over 30 years of experience in visual arts and social innovation, working alongside people with lived experience to elevate their voices in the design of services, systems, and policy. Louise, Partner and Experience Design Director at Folk, leads complex digital and service design projects across government, health, and housing — embedding user needs at the heart of every solution. Together, we explore how designing with people (not just for them) can shape and reshape the work in creative, exciting and meaningful ways. A huge thank you to Martin and Louise for such an open, thoughtful conversation 💬 Listen now on your favourite streaming service!

What can you actually get done in an hour? Cook some pasta? Have a nap? Lose all your money in a ‘quick’ Bunnings trip? Rewatch The Office (just the dinner party ep)? Accidentally agree to buying a second dog? ...or you could design, code and present an entire app with a team of strangers. which is exactly what happened at the latest AI design challenge last week! Huge thanks to everyone who showed up, gave it a crack and proved that creativity and chaos make great mates when there's a timer involved. Shoutout to our pals at Folk and Flight Centre Travel Group for co-hosting with us and backing emerging talent in the Brisbane Design Community. It goes without saying a big congratulations to the winners: Dario Civinelli, Emily Pearce, Shane Lim & George! To the organisers (Luis, Hans Barroga, Robert Richardson, Reuben Fenemore, Kosta Laoudikos, Matilda Williams, Talia Yat, and Joelle Black thanks for pulling it off another amazing design event. Photos by the our very own and very real human and not AI tool, Conal Haughey. The next event is just around the corner...with 100 people already RSVP'd.
