Mutated Flerken pigeon getting breakfast.

Initially a very simple scene concept turned out to be a nightmare for any Houdini solver. This was supposed to be a simple track using @keentools GeoTracker , but became an extreme case of tracking errors, complexity and troubleshooting. Due to this shot being a 120mm lens shot GeoTracker was solving it with terrible z-drift, which needed correcting keyframes every 3-5 frames and careful z curve adjustment for drift correction. On top of that, the jerky movements of the pigeon’s head are a substepping nightmare for most solvers. Mpm would just explode, flip just say a big no-no, but fortunately vellum would be able to handle that with 8-10 substeps. Scenes like this are a great learning experience and a test of any artist’s resilience. I also finally learned how ACES works, from now on i’ll be respecting color spaces a little more 😎

Sculpt done Zbrush, sims and render in Houdini FX. Obviously no slop here (i guess it’s appropriate to mention it nowadays)

When I was at SDCC this year, @igndotcom came up to @brian_thomas_art and myself asking if we could be interviewed and if saw the announcement at H Hall…
Ryan Gosling will be the new Ghost Rider! I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could bring this MCU character to life through costume, practical effects/cosplay, as well as 3D animation and vfx. Huge thanks to our amazing cinematographer @vbauston for filming this. Also, thank you so much to @yourmomschopper for allowing us to film at the historic jailhouse in Winterset Iowa, available on PeerSpace to rent!
