So many things I could have been, don’t recognize myself again. I can’t fit within, the box you tried to put me in.

Out of place, yeah, fall from grace, I am
out of place. I’m still searching for somewhere to go, I was always better off alone.

@keepcloseut was one of the very first bands to trust me when I started going all-in on music video production. Growing alongside them over the years has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey, but this specific project came at a time when I needed it more than they probably knew.

Behind the scenes over the last 7 months, I was navigating one of the most stressful periods of time I’ve ever faced. It took a massive toll on me and completely bruised my love for creating videos for people. I was burnt out, frustrated, and questioning a lot.

Working on “Out of Place” was the exact medicine I needed.

We had a crazy limited window to shoot, which forced me to level up fast. Had to dig into compositing in Blender to build out some additional scenes to round out the shoot, figure out a render farm to prevent my computer from exploding, and spent endless late nights dialing in the post-processing in After Effects. I gave every ounce of energy I had to make this the best piece of work I’ve ever put out, and in the process, it completely reignited my passion for the craft.

Immense gratitude to the boys in @keepcloseut for always trusting the process and being a constant reminder of why I fell in love with filmmaking in the first place.

If you made it this far in my caption, thanks for coming to my TedTalk, but you should really be scooting over to YouTube to watch the full video.

xoxo
