🏛️ This was a moving experience. If you were of age during George W. Bush’s term as president, you likely have mixed feelings about him. But, as I told my son, the longer you live, the more you learn about people and get to view them in different lights. The George W. Bush Presidential Center is an excellent set of lights to engage your thoughts and change your mind about some of your opinions. It is a highly immersive experience that provides you information and opportunities to test how well you might handle being Commander in Chief.

🌾 Built on a 15-acre urban park at the eastern edge of the SMU campus, this intriguing museum and library walks you through the President & Mrs. George W. Bush’s main values: Freedom, Opportunity, Accountability and Compassion. Each section focuses on a major segment of President Bush’s life, including some of the most tragic events to occur on US soil. I was fascinated from the time I walked in the doors until the time I finished my lap around the landscaped trails.

🌊 There is an abundance of historical information to read, videos to watch, gifts from many nations to see, wardrobe and personal items to admire and multiple interactive Q&As to participate in. My son was most intrigued by the Decision Points Theater which placed visitors in the hot seat to determine which actions should have been taken during Hurricane Katrina. His choice of local government leadership with assistance from the national guard (but no policing) was the ultimate choice made by President Bush.

🌹 The Rose Garden and September 11 exhibits were most poignant for me. I was moved to tears standing at the World Trade Center beam, which was part of the top floors of the building. I shared with my son, and a new volunteer, how I remembered exactly where I was when the news of the towers was released. I remembered being at work on Hwy 114 in Irving, not far from DFW Airport where my mother worked. I remembered calling her over and over again, yet not being able to reach her, and how the cellular services went down because so many people were trying to reach their loved ones. The world literally stood still for so many of us that day.

🥰 THANK YOU to our family and friends who came to Keiland’s graduation! Your boy did not expect to see all those familiar faces when he walked out that door. 🤩 It was wild and frantic as the kids tried to get those last pics with their classmates, but he talked about how happy he was to see y’all while we hung out at Luby’s. A lot of I.M.Terrell alumni were there having lunch too, and they were so proud to see his blue and gold robe!

💫 Thanks again for being there, y’all. And to the best barber for keeping his fade tight and his mind right—Damiun Henderson. We love y’all to the moon and back!

Hey mom we got it done🎓

It’s been a really hard time in my life but all I can say is thank you to God, my family, friends, loved ones, teachers, and church that have had my back and supported me along the way. I don’t know what I would’ve done without these people. It’s been an incredible 4 years at I.M. Terrell and I’ve grown so much around amazing and talented individuals.

Thank you Mom for your sacrifices that paved the way for me and I’m holding this diploma because of you ❤️ I’ll keep going

i did it! i graduated!!!

thank you to everyone who has been with me the past 4 years, john michael was right when he said terrell wouldn’t be terrell without the people you meet. as much as i complain about going to school everyday and doing homework, and staying after school for student gov, a part of me will still miss it because i won’t be seeing you guys everyday anymore. I’m so excited to see what we all do and where we go i love you guys.

another huge thank you to mr brown and the teachers i have met here you guys have a made a huge impact on me and i wouldn’t be where i am without yall!

and thank you to my parents i don’t know what i would do without you guys next year, i love you so much thank you for everything you have done for me
