POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In swirls of bold, sharp colors from marker and acrylic on unstretched canvases, Keith Duncan’s collection of 44 illustrations in “Battle of the Bands” depicts the multiple stages of the pageantry at historically Black colleges and universities.

Unveiled at @cfbhall last month, drum majors flex acrobatic moves and their leadership across fields.

@keithjduncan said tradition, legacy and history are on display throughout the Hall of Fame.

But “Battle of the Bands” extends that football experience to art and cultural inheritance.

“This is where art and sports merge,” Duncan said. “Competition of the bands is a form of sport. ... Teamwork, discipline and commitment (are) essential.”

⭐️CELEBRATING HBCU PRIDE⭐️ HBCU history is American history. And HBCU marching bands have been shaping the sound, style, and spirit of college football for generations.

Got the chance to visit Keith Duncan’s Battle of the Bands exhibit at Atlanta’s College Football Hall of Fame (@cfbhall ), and seeing our bands celebrated on these walls made me proud! The artistry, the tradition, the drum majors, the showmanship, if you know what happens when the band takes the field, you know. 🙌🏾

HOW TO SEE THE EXHIBIT
The exhibit is on display through May 2027. Comment “BANDS” and we’ll send you a direct link to get tickets!

Go see it, take somebody with you, and show up for the stories and traditions that deserve to be seen.
