It’s #summitsunday!! I’m throwing it back my first backpacking trip and first-ever Summit Sunday. Way back in July 2015 a good friend of mine from @texas4000 convinced me to make a last minute trip from San Francisco to Yosemite for a Sunday adventure. We had no plans, but ended up grabbing a permit for an overnight trek to Half dome and back- my first-ever backpacking trip! Kelly and I hit the trail at 6pm (thank goodness for long July days!) and made it up to our camping spot in the dark. I was zonked after the hike and was new to figuring out how to work around the constraints of living in the wilderness, even if just for a night. We got up the next morning shocked at the view waiting for us just beyond the ridge we’d set up camp atop of. Then we saddled up and stupidly hiked most of the way up the final ascent to Half dome with all our stuff before dropping our packs and hitting the ropes on the steep granite face to the very top. Kelly will tell you- I had an absolute meltdown on the steepest section, opting to sit down because I was so freaked out about falling to my death. Well, friends, the following phrase is true: there’s no such thing as bad weather/situations, only bad gear. And that was true for me- I didn’t have hiking boots, just tennis shoes that were too worn down to be useful on a city sidewalk, let alone a steep granite face. Learned my lesson there. We got to the top and celebrated by drinking champagne in a can. We got a little too buzzed at 9k feet to safely descend, so we took silly selfies on the summit for over an hour before we felt we were ready to descend. I drove all the way back San Francisco later that Sunday night absolutely enamored with backpacking, proud of myself and Kelly, and looking forward to many more experiences just like that (except maybe more prepared next time). The rest is history ✨🎉🌲⛺️

#throwback to a gorgeous wedding with gorgeous people. Weddings are always a celebration of love, but this group is so fortunate for the added gift that every time one of our Rock13s family says vows, we get to also celebrate the immense love that we all have for each other. Cheers to the beautiful brides and to many more excuses to reunite across the country. #wilderwedding #rockieswedding #rockiesforlife #rock13s #samandkat #t4k #reunion #colorado #denverlife #coloradogram #squadgoals #gaywedding #instagay #twogirlsonelove #texas4000 #reunitedanditfeelssogood #rideordie #loveislove #lovewins #tbt

70 days. 4500 miles. 24 bikes. 18 saddle sores. 4 bear sightings. 1 trillion flat tires. 7 continental divide crossings. 3 snowball fights. 1 baptism. 2 trailer axles. 6 stitches. 26 spontaneous swims. 1 heart. #5yearslater this is what family looks like. My summer 2013 mantra holds true looking back on where we've all come since that magical life-changing adventure: "it's about the journey not the destination." We've all come so far since the ride and yet stayed so close. I'm so proud to call you my team. #rock13s #enjoytheride #1heart #alaskaorbust #toalaskaandbeyond #notafinishline #2013 #t4k #texas4000 #rockiesroute #family #fuckcancer #livestrong #lifesajourney #nostalgia #reunion #texastoalaska #gobybike #touring #cyclist #experience #memories #longhorns #charityride #travel #bikelove

Reminiscing about summer 2013 with my ragtag crew of teammates, endless energy and laughs, flat tires, border races, brewery tours, themed rest stops, ride dedications, and fighting cancer. Five years ago and I’d do it all again as long as y’all came with me.☀️ #rockies2013 @texas4000

Generally unheard of growing in Utah, but sometimes, on Halloween, you can catch a rare sight of a Saguaro cactus in bloom near North Six Shooter. #saguaro #northsixshooter #halloween
