Summer break finally coming to a close

Welp… this isn’t how I imagined the season would go. 🙃

A few weeks ago, I felt a pop in my knee during practice. Right away, I knew it wasn’t good. Instead of racing at USAs like I had hoped, the last few weeks have been filled with doctor’s appointments, MRIs, uncertainty, and eventually surgery.

To say I was heartbroken would be an understatement. I was feeling really strong and like I was getting back to my old self heading into championship season, and then I found myself having to press pause. It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to watch plans you’ve worked so hard for change so quickly.

But I’ve learned that there’s a lot that goes into this sport outside of the races. The hard days, the setbacks, the rehab sessions, and continuing to show up when things don’t go the way you planned.

I know I’ll give it everything I have and come back stronger.

The road back starts now. 🤍

Thank you to everyone who’s reached out, checked in, and reminded me I’m not alone in all of this. And in the meantime, I’ll be enjoying all the animal snuggles I can get and hoping they have some special healing powers✨

Back, not better…but having fun with running again.

After a 7 year hiatus of racing, with not that much running I decided to lace up and put myself in a few races over the past few months, as well as attended some awesome races on the trail scene. Does that mean I’m going to sign up for more races, absolutely not. I have though found my love for the sport again.

Feeling so lucky to have such incredible friends and family 🤍

My best friend Natalie threw me the most beautiful shower, with help from friends and fam and it came together better than I could have imagined. It’s been a hard couple of months, but Max and I are feeling so incredibly loved by our community right now. So grateful for everyone who flew in from afar and all the Portland friends who showed up.

And we’re having a BOY 🥹🐻💙
