Speed Isn’t Just Straight Ahead. 🤔

The fastest athletes aren’t just great at running in a straight line—they can accelerate, decelerate, and redirect force from every angle.

Training speed in a multi-directional environment builds a more complete athlete. 💪🏽

One of the most overlooked tools? Curved sprints.

Curved sprinting helps athletes:

✅ Improve body lean and force application.
✅ Enhance foot and ankle stiffness while changing direction.
✅ Develop better hip control and rotational stability.
✅ Improve mechanics when transitioning from curved to linear sprinting.
✅ Prepare for the way speed is actually used in sport—not just in a straight line.

In baseball and softball athletes rarely sprint in perfectly straight lines. They chase balls, round bases, and create angles to make plays. If you only train straight-line speed, you’re leaving performance on the table. 😳

Train athletes for the game they play, not just the test they take. 👍🏽

Build speed in every direction, and straight-line speed often improves as a result. 💡

Train your hamstrings to help reduce the risk of knee and hamstring injuries.

Nordic curl variations are a great hamstring exercise you can do just about anywhere. They help build eccentric hamstring strength, which is important for sprinting, jumping, decelerating, and protecting the knee.

Start with a variation you can control, then progress over time.

Having a good first step and having good acceleration is based around movement intent, bodyweight distribution at the start, and body positioning during the first few steps.

Explosively throwing light med balls is a great way to develop power. Coordinate your whole body to generate and express power. But also, what were we listening to?! 🤔🤣
