Apparently my reading is moving faster than my journaling this month! 😂📚

I finished my first October book on the 2nd, and guess what? My reading journal wasn’t even set up yet!

FAIL! But we’re back on track now. 🎃

I keep my reading journal pretty simple, and honestly, I love it that way. I’ve figured out what I actually enjoy tracking, and I don’t need a bunch of extra pages to do it.

My monthly setup includes:
📅 A color-coded reading calendar
📚 A list of books I’ve read
📊 Genre + rating pie charts
📖 Total books and pages read
⭐ Average rating
📸 Book covers with stamped star ratings

My favorite little detail is probably my reading calendar. I use a coordinating Tombow marker to draw a line across the days I spend reading each book and write the title right on the line. Since I only read one book at a time, it’s such an easy way to see my reading throughout the month.

For the Halloween decor, I pulled out my Michaels Halloween Mash Up scrapbook paper and layered torn pieces across the tops of both pages. I added some orange and black florals with skulls from Kellofaplan’s Happy Halloween Vol. 2 and finished with black-and-white striped washi.

And can we talk about that “Home Sweet Haunted Home” quote? 👻🖤

I love how the spooky details bring the pages to life without taking away from all the functional space I need.

Nothing too complicated. Just a little Halloween fun and plenty of room for my October reads!

Now I just need to keep up with the reading journal as well as I’ve been keeping up with my books. 😂

What is ONE thing you always track in your reading journal?

October reading journal is FINALLY ready! 📚🎃

Apparently I’ve been doing a little more reading than journaling lately because I finished my first book of October on the 2nd…and my reading journal wasn’t even set up yet. OOPS! 😂

Well, that problem is officially fixed!

I keep my reading journal pretty simple because that’s what works for me right now. I love seeing all those beautifully decorated reading journals, but I also know what I actually use and want to keep track of.

I start with a small hand-drawn calendar to track when I start and finish each book. I grab a coordinating Tombow marker and draw a line across the days I spent reading that book, then write the title on the line. And since I’m definitely a one-book-at-a-time kind of reader, each new book gets a new color. 📖

Underneath, I list the books I’ve read and add two pie charts—one for genres and one for ratings. At the end of the month, I divide and color the charts based on what I read.

On the opposite page, I track just three stats:
📚 Total books read
📖 Total pages read
⭐ Average rating

The rest of the page is reserved for my book covers! I add a five-star stamp underneath each cover and color in the number of stars I gave the book.

And that’s it! Simple, functional, and exactly what I need.

For October, I grabbed some papers from my Michaels Halloween Mash Up book and layered torn pieces across the top of both pages. Then I added orange and black florals with little skulls tucked in from Kellofaplan’s Happy Halloween Vol. 2. 💀🧡

A little black-and-white striped washi to separate my sections and the cutest “Home Sweet Haunted Home” quote finished everything off.

Spooky, simple, and ready for all the October reads! 👻📚

Are you a one-book-at-a-time reader like me, or do you juggle multiple books?
