Blurb
Christopher, a young yet well-regarded deputy district attorney, has seen his dream come true. With loving parents, an ideal job, a thriving career, and a flawless boyfriend, his life feels like a perfect fairy tale.
However, Christopher’s impeccable world is not as immaculate as it seems from the outside.
Worse, his paradise is shattered when he agrees to take over a colleague’s case. The past he long buried resurfaces, and the pieces of himself he carefully rebuilt begin to fall apart.
Faced with the toughest decisions that could change his life forever, he must choose his path without endangering himself and his loved ones.

My thoughts
This really wasn't what I was expecting, but still it was an enjoyable read.
I felt that from the cover that this was going to be a MM spicy tale and most likely focusing on a relationship of three or potentially a love triangle. What it actually focuses on is Christopher and how he becomes inviegled in an attempt to take down a mysterious criminal boss, while also trying to hold down a relationship.
At first we meet Chris in a relationship with Julian, red flags all over the shop!
Then we meet Conor, who turns out to actually be Mat who Chris knew as kids. I cant say more about this without major spoilers but its a really interesting scenario!
There were a couple of romantic scenes but nothing overly explicit so it didnt quite hit the mark of a romance for me.
I really loved the character of Audrey, though there was a while I was like oh how good would it be if she was actually the mole 🤣
I wish we had just had another couple of chapters, I would have liked to see how Mat dealt with going home and explaining things, and I'd have also liked to see what happened next for everyone.
Its got lots of action and keeps a good pace with short, snappy chapters.

Have a quick butcher's at this cover. Take just a brief glance, then ask the first question that occurs to you which hasn't already been asked in another reply. (This might also be a fun game for other authors to try too).

Meanwhile thanks so much to everyone who participated in publication day. Today was one of those moments that remind me exactly why I love what I do.
Tracy has been coming to me for over 30 years — we’ve shared so many laughs, life changes, and stories over the decades.
When I finished her hair today and turned the chair to show her the mirror, her eyes welled up with tears of joy. That little pause, that emotional moment… it truly humbled me.
Hairdressing is so much more than cutting and colouring — it’s connection, trust, and making someone feel like the very best version of themselves. And that feeling? That’s why I’ll never stop loving this craft.

Thank you to @penguinukbooks for sending this to me to review and tour stop!

Review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Although I managed to guess the who, what, where and why by 2/3rds of the way through this book, I didn't see the twist at the end and really enjoyed the journey the author took us on. Although there were a few fashion and music references, I don't believe you need to have experienced the 80s to enjoy this book. It had great summer vibes, fantastic friendships & backstabbing and did have some tropes which will need warning in the final copy. I really enjoyed this and once I got started, I could not stop reading. A perfect summer read!
Thank you Penguin for my copy to review.

The Beach Party is now available in all major retail stores! Please take a look if you love thrillers and summer reads.
