Just taking a brief moment to get a bit vulnerable with ya.

Planning an event of this caliber requires a lot of sacrifice. Our time and our budget.
We’ve never planned for a huge profit on this event because it’s more important to us to really provide something of quality to serve to this community.
And as virtuous as we hope to be, unfortunately, there is a bottom dollar to make it financially possible.
We have a few more days left in September and have a sales goal we need to hit in order for this event to continue. If we can’t hit that by next Wednesday October 1st we will be forced to cancel.
This post feels a bit desperate, but also so right because the entire ethos of Cultivate is authenticity and genuine relationship.
So, we are asking a huge favor:

-if you are planning to come and haven’t purchased a ticket yet, we would be so grateful if you would do that this weekend. By the end on September (Tuesday) at the latest.
-If you are on the fence about coming, please reach out! We know it’s hard to plan in advance as a mom, homesteader, business owner.
-If there’s something holding you back from coming we’d love to hear from you! Send us a DM with your situation and we will see if we can help

A few sneak peeks of this last weekend at @cultivatehomesteadretreat 🫶🏻

It was such a special time and I left with my heart full. I was primarily on videography duty, so I didn’t focus on too many photos this year. I’m looking forward to sorting through all the footage and creating a video summary of our time together! These photos barely scratch the surface 🥰

Time with friends and fellow homesteading women is a gift, and as I expected I walked away so inspired and encouraged.

Can’t wait to share more 🤍

Nearly one year ago I hopped on a plane with my five week old baby and headed to Missouri for the @cultivatehomesteadretreat.

It was such a special event, and one that I’ll look back on fondly my whole life. I got to finally squeeze my long distance homestead friends in real life, and spend a few glorious days laughing with my longtime bff Kellyn. We ate incredible farm fresh food, enjoyed good company, and sat in some truly amazing workshops for a whole weekend. It was like summer camp for grown ups, and yes, it was every bit as magical as it sounds.

This year I’m headed back again, this time without a baby along for the ride. I can hardly wait to see my friends and enjoy “homestead summer camp” together 🫶🏻

October 31-November 2nd, at the Stewart Farm Co-op in Pleasant Hope, MO. Tickets are still available, and let me tell you my friends, it’s going to be so worth it.

I feel like I may be preaching to the choir here but getting our roots back in the home may just be the only thing that can redirect the state of our culture. That may sound dramatic, but hear me out. Our homes can be a scared place, indeed I believe they are meant to be. We have this one fleeting time to help our children truly learn to love what ought to be loved. This will happen regardless but we are up against a mass of screaming voices, fighting for their attentions, for their souls, desperate to root them in superficiality and selfishness. We must be the safeguard; we must lay that crucial foundation. But be warned- they WILL love what we love- for better or worse. They are watching our choices, our actions, hearing our words, and judging our integrity. We have to walk the walk and also love what ought to be loved, because the world isn’t just fighting for their souls. Start in the kitchen. With meals cooked and shared together. What and how we chose to eat has deep and lasting ramifications. So, my intention is not to overwhelm but to encourage-
start in the kitchen.

It’s time for morning chores, ladies.

I love to wake up early- I read my Bible, eat a hearty breakfast, and head to the gym.

I’m home by 7:30 and then we start breakfast, read the Bible as a family, and begin chores before starting our homeschool day (usually about 9:30)

Our family is located in SW Missouri. We have almost 40 acres with two jerseys, a small herd of Dexters, laying hens, and a small vegetable and flower garden.
We also just opened our on site farmstand and host a Renaissance inspired homeschool enrichment class and community swordfighting events.

It’s been a super full and busy and incredible year.

It’s hard to believe the growing season is coming near an end. We pushed hard this year- dove head first into trying to pave the way for the future we so deeply want. And deeply believe in. It’s been a tremendous amount of work but honestly one of the most rewarding and fulfilling seasons.
Thank you for being here. For supporting our family. And helping us make our dreams come true.

Principle No. 1 Children are Born Persons

At the time Charlotte Mason was living and teaching, children were frequently mistreated and categorized as second class citizens. They worked in horrible conditions and were regularly exploited. Think about how Dickens described the children of London. Considering this, when Mason makes a pillar of her educational system the idea that children are born persons, it would have been quite revolutionary. Children are whole persons with souls of their own, deserving of full and considerate treatment and education. This is something we often take for granted today, but it underlines the generous nature of Mason’s philosophy. She wanted every child to be educated. In a time when education was reserved for the wealthy, this was a new, and not always welcome, concept. But this principle that “children are born persons” underpins the core belief that provides structure and grounding for all her other educational philosophies.
