Shared another amazing day in Tel Aviv …which ended in hostage square where we were reminded of how fragile life really is!

The posts saying that Israel is pink washing genocide infuriate me. I'm am a gay and queer Israeli and I'm proud of who I am not because it serves a political purpose but because it's who I am.

We build our queer communities here because we're building our society how we want to live in it. I educate and fight against homophobia not because I care about what the rest of the world thinks, but because I want a better life for queer youth to grow up in.

When I go to a pride march, or a drag show, or learn about queer history, it's not so that I can distract from anything. It's my life. It's my society.

Pride month should be a time to celebrate our achievements and our history, and fight against the oppression of queer people and queerness happening all over the world. Instead I'm seeing supposed feminists and allies fight against achievements for queer rights and celebrate societies that punish gay people and women for existing publicly. Why? Because it's Israel and we're the source of all evil in the world apparently.

What's the argument here? That Israel shouldn't have a thriving queer culture? That we shouldn't fight to improve our own rights? That we shouldn't exist here as well? Or that we can be gay here but showing pride is an insidious plot? I can't decide if it's more antisemitic or homophobic.

Screw anyone trying to turn my life and my community into another excuse to hate Jews. We're here, we're queer, we're also Zionists and we're not going anywhere!

Happy pride month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️❤️💜💙💚💛🧡🩷

Yesterday, between missile attacks by Hamas, at SHIUR במלחמה we came together with @mickiweinberg in Tel Aviv, exploring the role of language, silence, withdrawal, action & world-change in the midst of the war we are all suffering through. We engaged texts from this week’s Torah portion (Noach), poems from Tehillim, Alejandra Pizarnik and Else Lasker-Schüler, and texts from Rashi, the Zohar, R. Moshe Chayim Luzzatto, and R. Itche Meir Morgenstern.

Transformation of spirit, worldview and consciousness are inevitable in times of trauma—how involved we are in these changes is up to us- and we decided not to surrender to fear and despair in the reshaping of consciousness that we are all going through.

We are and will continue to take an active role in questioning and exploring this process through discourse and action. If you’re in Israel & would like to join us next time & /or get the source sheet pdf that you see on the smartphones/sheets - let us know!

*Note behind us is coincidentally the word חן- Chen, the name Noach backwards, which is the Torah portion we discussed. Also the acronym for “Hidden Wisdom״/Chochmat HaNistar/חכמת הנסתר a term used to describe many of the kabbalistic readings we encountered, and perhaps most importantly for our times - Chen means “Grace” and “favor”—something that we seek in these dangerous moments

A special thank you to our hosts @arielkark & @rachejoel and our organizing team led by @yamil_ini

Seeing Gaudis work in Barcelona, Camping out in the forest and waking up to a swimming hole, eating Portuguese tarts in Portugal, Being transcended 😉on booms dance floor with such good energy around me, @monfreaq VIP tour of underground Berlin, eating a Greek salad in Greece, endless partying and nourishment from family in Israel, Hiking Timna park in the Negev desert, meeting a beautiful group of friends in Israel, Milan fashion week, hiking lake como mountains to the peak to see all the Swiss alps at the top.

The journey began in London > Florence > Rome> Naples > pompeii > Almalfi coast (capri, Almalfi)> Israel > Greece (Heraklion) > Madrid > Boom festival > Porto > Geres> Lisbon > Nazzare > Faro> Seville > Malaga > Barcelona> Berlin> Amsterdam

Experiencing a City that has so much to offer was so much FUN 🙌🏻 However, the actual highlight of the trip was having the opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces 🤩 Even those who managed to avoid being captured in my presence 😅 Thanks to all the legends who made the effort to come say 'Hello Howzit' 🔥

Special mention to @gavin_golden who made the trip from Amsterdam for a day 🍻

Side Note: I think a met a grand total of 4 new human beings in 2 weeks... Good Job London 👏🏻
