Kelsey Bolar shares the story of Cathleen Quinn before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Cathleen’s parole was revoked just 3 weeks before her release after objecting to California’s #SB132 & reporting that a male was repeatedly peeping on her while she used the bathroom.

The inclusion and amplification of the voices that can speak directly into the current crisis in women’s prisons nationwide are going to be key in reaching a resolution that will ensure all incarcerated people are treated with respect, agency and dignity. Ret. Sgt. Richard Valdemar is a former Los Angeles County Sheriff who is now a highly esteemed expert in law enforcement. His contribution to @independentwomensforum docu-series CRUEL & UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT: the male takeover of women’s prisons, is absolutely priceless. He speaks of standards and values that we strive to restore and build back as we start the process of healing and course correction on an almost daily basis. Someday, the hill looks a lot bigger than others, but we are still on this hill and we are not going anywhere until this female human rights crisis is resolved. Under the current letter of the law of #SB132 there is no way to comply with federal PREA (prison r*pe elimination act) standards:

sec. 30302
Purposes
(2) make the prevention of prison r*pe a top priority in each prison system;

There is no way to prevent women from being r*ped which was made undeniably clear by the recent charges filed against a transfer from men’s to women’s prison by the Madera county DA. Housing reproductively compatible people together is resulting in direct violation of the California title 15 regulations as well. It that states:

15 § 3022. No inmate or group of inmates will be given or be permitted to assume control over other inmates.

This is not hate speech. This is simply the truth and we can’t even start to correct this until the truth is acknowledged and we move forward together in an effort to rehabilitate and heal whole people who can re-enter society recovered from the traumas that led them to prison instead of coming back with new ones.

It was an honor to work with Sgt. Richard Valdemar on the docu-series CRUEL & UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT: the male takeover of women’s prison. His willingness to participate despite his busy schedule was so kind. He did not hesitate to stand up and tell the truth about the dangers of housing biological, intact males in women’s prisons. I’m praying his segment reaches all the way to the top of the department of corrections because the message should resonate with those who are still on the fence about saving lives, preventing more r*pes and pregnancies and pushing political agendas and keeping pensions. One thing SGT. Valdemar shared cut me to the core: the safety and security of the institution takes priority over any individual’s rights in the institution. It makes sense. It means a prolific manipulator who’s been convicted of SA, and violent crimes against women who wants to transfer to women’s prison and be housed with women should not be prioritized over the safety of the population in the womens prison. This doesn’t have to be so controversial. This is not hate speech. This is the truth and dealing with the realities we are faced with is going to get this resolved a lot faster than pushing this through harder and harder and ra*ping every part of incarcerated women’s existence. Please help me spread this message and share this everywhere. This has to be addressed and it has to be talked about in public where there is full transparency and no one has a chance to twist things up to secure their CALpers benefits. The public has every right to know this is what their tax dollars are funding. Visit www.IWF.org to find all the segments of Cruel & Unusual Punishment.

I am honored and proud to be a part of this factor of women who are so brave and bold in this fight for us to exist. The fight for us to have the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The fight to save women and girls sports is so much more than I initially understood. Honestly, at first I thought come on it’s just sports what about women in prison? Then I listened to athletes, I met some coaches, I listened to other women, and I recognized the same evil forces behind robbing women and girls of their rights to play, win, succeed, and change their clothes in their locker rooms freely without being support animals for weak, mentally unwell males are the very same powers and principalities behind the government sanctioned r*pes occurring by forcibly housing incarcerated women with violent, intact male s*x offenders. This is not just about sports, restrooms or us wanting respect, agency and dignity anymore. This is the battle of #good against #evil This is not a partisan issue and it shouldn’t be politically polarized. Everyone in a position of power should be on their feet on the front lines protecting what’s left of our right to exist as women. This evil we are fighting has been here for a long time, but it’s not creative and innovative like us. It’s lacks any creativity and simply updates the game plan every decade or so. All we have to do is look to the past to gain control of the future. Thank you @independentwomensforum for restoring my hope in woman kind. 🫡✊💖

It’s been challenging trying to raise awareness about the current culture climate in women’s prisons. I didn’t expect the general public to be deeply concerned but I also didn’t expect them to be so uninterested either. I was not ready to hear, “well I guess they’ll think twice before breaking the law next time huh?” in response to me sharing that women are being forcibly housed with vi0lent male s3x offenders with pe*ises. I prayed. Then I thought, if people could see who I see, and know who I know, they would care. I knew I couldn’t do it alone. I prayed.
The @independentwomensforum @iwvoice story telling experts took this on. They have been an answer to so many prayers. They’ve treated me and my loved ones with patience, respect and have delivered our stories with dignity. They gave me an opportunity to work with people that only God could have connected. One of the best parts is that they have been able to really see who I see. It has been an honor to be an ambassador. Survivors of SA are particularly sensitive to the presence of abusive men, many of whom are registered s*x offenders, and have histories of violence against women. Under the current letter of the law, incarcerated women have no right to refuse housing with a person regardless of their traumas, or their sense of safety and well being. Those rights were exclusively provided to trans identified prisoners under SB132. This has proven itself to be unfair, unsafe and unrealistic. If you’re interested in helping us make sure all incarcerated people are treated with respect, agency and dignity visit our website for details on how you can contribute in this fight and many others.

We have been blessed with partnerships that we’ve found in places and with people we never would have thought we’d be in the trenches with. It’s an honor to have a veteran, a father, and a role model like @hector__bravo speaking up for our silenced sisters. We are praying that this segment of @independentwomensforum #CruelandUnusual Punishment-the male takeover of women’s prison encourages others to speak up for those who can’t.

I’m not worried, because our battles are won I’d say I’m more concerned. Title IX is the U.S. Department of Education’s guidelines that all schools in the country have to follow. Any school from kindergarten to college that receives federal funding is responsible for following these rules. They sound like the Title 15 Regulations. I’m beginning to understand how much alike the school system and the prison systems are. The more I read it’s even more strict than the title 15 regulations used for all detention centers and juvenile facilities in the country. According to the new regulations in Title IX when ever anyone files a sexual harassment claim they are to launch an investigation that has-
“A process that enables the decisionmaker to assess the credibility of the parties and witnesses when credibility is in dispute and relevant. § 106.45(g))”
They don’t even do that in #PRISON . There’s men who rap€ women and file complaints against their victim and there’s no investigation into their credibility. People lose parole dates behind unsubstantiated allegations.
Harassment can include things like: Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, Relationship Violence, Stalking, Gender discrimination, Gender identity discrimination, Gender Expression discrimination, Sexual Orientation discrimination, Pregnancy discrimination, Retaliation, Indecent Exposure, Statutory rape, Invasion of Sexual Privacy, and Failure to Comply with an Order.
So you can’t say you don’t want to wrestle a pregnant pansexual Demi boy because that would fall under sexual harassment.
Real life can’t be based on other people’s feelings. Feelings pass but biological facts don’t change. Basing the way the nation is run in accordance to a very small percentage of the whole populations feeling’s, many of which are clear expressions of a desperate need for #mentalhealthservices is not working out for the other 93.9% of us. There has to be a balance where all people are respected. Shifting the #discrimination and allowing a factor of society to put on every other underrepresented, marginalized and at risk communitie’s collective #traumas has created an untouchable privilege group. #tranSSupremacy

The @independentwomensforum restored another incarcerated woman’s voice through this incredible story telling project. In this segment, Alissa describes exactly what we have been worried about since January 2021. How can anyone rehabilitate, heal from traumas they’ve experienced and inflicted if everyone is either in a state of hyper vigilance or active in their criminal thinking and behaviors which are being facilitated by the state? Realistically, most people who are currently in prison will reenter society at some point. Without the vital need to be housed in an environment where rehabilitation is accessible we are creating a deadly, preventable crisis that will impact everyone- free and incarcerated. Women are being r*ped and beaten by predatory male transfers using SB132 to gain access to women’s bodies. What else has to happen for folks to include this as an issue that needs to be addressed?

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Alissa Kamholz shares a behind-bars interview with IWF to tell her story & the fallout that can happen when women’s rights are stripped within a women’s prison.

After being sentenced to 39 years to life, Alissa Kamholz thought she’d found a “safe place” away from male offenders like those who abused her as a child. Unfortunately, she was wrong.

California’s SB 132 forced Alissa to share a room with a man who used to frequent the same gang clubhouse she was routinely abused in. 🔗 Read her story at the link in our bio.
