HERE COMES A REGULAR - 6.15pm (4/7)

E14 INDIE FILM FEST (Saturday 15th November 2025)

SHORTS 2 (LONDON: BORN & BRED):
7 short films made in London or by London Filmmakers.

(4/7): HERE COMES A REGULAR

Here Comes a Regular is a quirky, warm, and soulful short set in The Boogaloo, a well known London music pub where stories collide, time bends, and familiar faces reveal unexpected layers. Told through a series of intertwined vignettes, it explores the quiet magic of places we return to even when we don’t know why and what it truly means to belong. With a blend of wit, heart, and a touch of the surreal, this is a celebration of community, connection, and the spirit of the everyday.

The regulars keep coming back because it’s more than just their local, it’s their public house.

The film was shot in the working pub over one day using real staff and regulars as actors.

Directed by @kemethra

Produced by @gerry.o.boyle.5

Last week in London, a short film ‘Here Comes A Regular’ about @theboogaloopub London’s favourite honky-tonk was premiered at the @phoenix_cinema
Young director, @kemethra Power and Boogaloo founder and producer @gerry.o.boyle.5 gave a talk about the short film as a love letter to the lasting friendships through time created in the welcoming environments of the worlds’ pubs. Afterwards a party at @theboogaloopub with crew and cast.

I met Gerry many years ago with writer, Ann Scanlon and her sister, photographer Mary Scanlon and we have been regulars there in Highgate and going all the way back to the bar’s original form on Amwell Street.
Over time we’ve seen regulars like Shane McGowan and members of The Pogues and The Libertines. Other regulars have included Sinead O’Connor, Nick Cave, Joe Strummer, The Streets, Kate Nash and Wolf Alice. Writers Ken Kesey and Howard Marks each spent time making friends there as well. If those walls could talk…
Also @boogalooradio shows hosted by Ann Scanlon with guests like Johnny Marr and Bernard Butler and more. @herecomesaregularfilm evening was sponsored by @dinglegin and I particularly enjoyed hanging out with dear friends Ann Scanlon, @annemmccloy @conordonlon @garywilliammyatt and new friends the @neckbreakers_hq
