Never in my music career did I imagine I’d earn an award. I sat there with barely any hope my name would be called… and then MC said, “Would Alli Weaver please come up here.” I had no idea that joining jazz band would lead to me receiving the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award.
To both of the MCs—thank you. Thank you for pushing me, for believing in me, for never letting me settle for less than what you knew I was capable of. Whether it was convincing me to play tenor sax or constantly encouraging me behind the scenes, you both have played such a massive role in my growth. I hope this award makes you proud too—because I wouldn't be here without either of you.
I auditioned for the Skyfall solo—even though I didn’t get it, I was proud just for stepping that far out of my comfort zone. A year ago, that would’ve never happened.
I cried a lot last night—like I have so many times this past year—but this time, it was different. This time, I cried because I felt proud. I worked hard. I pushed myself. And now I have something to look back on and remember just how far I’ve come!
To everyone who supported me along the way—thank you. I love all of you 🫶🏼🎷

~The End~

I cannot believe that this was my final year of ENCORE. Since 7th grade, ENCORE has played a vital role in my life. From building my confidence to providing me with wonderful friends, ENCORE has helped me to grow into the person and performer I am today. Having the privilege of playing Sophie was an honor, and I cannot thank my wonderful friends and family enough for their endless support of me. I will forever hold the friends and memories I made this year close to my heart as they all truly have changed my life. I love you all!
