If you weren’t at the stadium-entrance train line-up, you missed the ride of the year! 🚂 We wore our colors, repped our national teams 🇪🇸🇧🇷🇩🇪🇦🇷, and left absolutely EVERYTHING on those bikes.

The energy in this room was pure magic—from the synchronized claps to the epic stadium wave and that insane final sprint! ⚡🦖 We didn’t just cycle, we conquered.

Here is some insight into my thought process in making a music arrangement. In this example, it began by understanding what the song is trying to convey such as the mood, the intention or emphasis of certain words. Then we assign chords so that the song has a proper harmonic structure, i.e. how the song tension is built up and resolved. The final step is to create a background layer to give scenery/ colour/ texture to the song.

Let's see what can we do with vocals accompanied by piano, bass and string orchestra. It is to be noted that I deliberately did not include a rhythmic layer such as drumming as it would be too substantial to cover in this video, perhaps it can be covered in future posts.

A little bit about the song, "Dukaku Milikimu" is a song written by Ken Ariff. In his debut public concert in November 2023, he had engaged me to be the arranger/ music director for the event. He recorded his songs on his voice notes app, and my job was to translate his ideas into real songs/ a live performance. This song was one of the songs performed in the concert. You can follow his account: @ken.ariff.official

There are a lot of things to be considered in making a music arrangement in order to truly serve the song's intentions. Balance is key; when the input is too minimal it would sound lazy and cliché, while too many ideas would make it incoherent and messy. So next time you listen to a song that you like, listen to beyond what the vocalist sings–very likely it was delivered with a well-thought-out arrangement.

When culture rides the rails and creativity takes the runway.

This year, Malaysia Fashion Creativity Award (MFCA) joins forces with Keretapi Sarong, with a theme of Neo-Traditional Monochromatic, a movement that turns a simple train ride into a living, breathing celebration of heritage. Together, we reimagine tradition—transforming old textiles, vintage sarongs, and forgotten fabrics into bold, sustainable fashion that speaks of identity, unity, and innovation.

From the rhythmic sound of the train to the vibrant mix of batik, songket, and modern silhouettes, every moment tells a story.
> Community coming together across races and generations.
> Sustainability, where discarded fabrics bloom into new masterpieces.
> Fashion as a movement, not just a trend.

This collaboration is more than a show—it’s a journey.
It’s about preserving our roots while designing the future, proving that Malaysian creativity knows no borders.

Let’s celebrate the art of dressing with purpose, the joy of culture in motion, and the endless colours of Malaysia.
