The 3rd Annual Surviving Through Mental Health Community Conversation brought our community together last Thursday for a powerful moment of truth and healing.

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, named in honor of Bebe Moore Campbell; an author, advocate, and co‑founder of NAMI Urban Los Angeles whose work pushed for stigma reduction, culturally informed care, and community‑based mental health education.

We honored the Black and Brown generations who carried burdens in silence so we could speak openly today. Now the work of healing in community is ours, naming what was hidden, facing what hurts, and planting seeds for those who come next.

Thank you to every attendee, panelist, sponsor, vendor, @photographybychad and every volunteer who made this space possible. And a special thank‑you to Shawnice Hernandez, co‑founder of STMH , for her vision and commitment to community.

This moment wasn’t just conversation it was continuation of connection, resilience, and community healing. 💚✨

✨NORFOLK IS POWERED BY PEOPLE✨

I’m deeply honored and excited to have co-led and coordinated @cityofnorfolkva award-winning presentation at the 2026 @allamericacityaward in Denver, CO this past weekend.

We proudly showcased three community-driven programs: People First, Community 1ST, and NeighborCare Norfolk, and how they reflect this’s year AACA theme: “America 250: Strengthening Civic Health & Building Trust.”

This experience has been nothing short of amazing. This opportunity pushed my creativity, challenged me to think differently, and allowed me to contribute to something truly meaningful. From early planning meetings to developing the presentation concept, designed shirts and materials, and helping coordinate rehearsals and logistics for more than 40 residents, staff, and city officials - every moment was unforgettable.

As someone born and raised in Norfolk, representing my hometown on a national stage was a privilege. Thank you to Mr. Len R., Krystle A., Dr. Susan P., Marcia M., Councilman Clanton, @tcuffee , @kendricnowling , Jaden, and everyone who helped make Norfolk the 2026 All America City Winner🏆

Til next time,
KCL✨

It's been a minute since we've seen that kind of football at Norfolk State. That "Never Give Up" mentality was front and center.

Owt last few days. 6th, 7th and 9th D Bruhz pulled up to the Chi. I haven’t been out much lately, but these brothers got me out the house and reminded me what true fellowship feels like. #OmegaPsiPhi #Fellowship #Uplift

Some say I’m lucky…I say I’m blessed “Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, ‘Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!’ Jesus responded, ‘WHY ARE YOU AFRAID? YOU HAVE SO LITTLE FAITH!’ Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. ‘Who is this man?’ They asked. ‘Even the winds and waves obey him!’” #cecretsauce #snyper #football #mac #qb #maction #God
