POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Here are your favourite episodes of the week! These are the most-downloaded Witchpolice podcasts over the past seven days...

There are a few fairly random ones every week, and this one is no different. Somehow it’s now autumn, so the completely random craziness of summer podcast listening might be over, but there will still be some unexpected episodes popping up on these weekly lists.

Check ‘em all out (if you haven’t already) at https://witchpolice.com/ or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening!

Swamp Booking is excited to welcome to the roster KEN Mode. @kenmodenoise

Winnipeg’s KEN mode have never been content to operate within the boundaries of a single genre, fusing noise rock, hardcore, post-punk, metal, and abrasive experimentalism into something distinctly their own.

With 2022’s NULL, the band reached a creative turning point, distilling years of experimentation into a fully realized and unmistakable musical identity. Its companion release, VOID, further explored that foundation, cementing a new chapter defined by visceral intensity, psychological tension, and an increasingly adventurous approach to songwriting.

Now, with a revitalized creative chemistry and a more instinctive, collaborative writing process, KEN mode are building upon that breakthrough with the urgency and ambition of a band only beginning to discover what’s possible. The resulting new material represents a significant leap forward, expanding their sonic vocabulary and pushing their newly established identity into more dynamic, unpredictable, and emotionally charged territory.

For KEN mode, this isn’t a continuation of the past. It’s the sound of a band that has finally found its voice and is discovering just how far it can take it.

39. Grateful for the people who made 38 worthwhile (and for all the opportunities to hang out in tide pools, see new mycoheterotrophs, and generally be a big nerd). Thank you for the birthday wishes. In spite of appearances online (none of this shit is real and I pretend to be far more confident than I am), I’m pretty shy and it meant a lot.

KEN MODE - NULL (2022)
Artoffact Records, LP

A wholly evil album from Canada’s premier industrial noise/avant-garde/post-everything metal maniacs. This album is further proof that the saxophone is an under-utilized instrument in metal and heavy music.

FAVORITE TRACK - Lost Grip
