September 12th, 2026!

Where the Gumbo Pot is piping hot and the roux is a rich deep color stands a festival that has been warming our hearts since 1973. And for our first official event of the 2026 Gumbo Festival, I had the honor of officially crowning my successor, Harley La, as Miss Creole Gumbo 2026. We welcomed twenty visiting queens to celebrate the end of my reign and the beginning of Harley’s with an evening full of music, dancing, and GUMBO galore!! ☺️🖤🥘✨🕺🎶🎉💋

To my girls, family, friends, OLPS parishioners, and Westwego community members who attended, thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing to spend such a busy weekend with us. To those who have spent the year with us and cheered us on from afar, thank you as well. And especially to our board - thank you for everything you have done for us this year, and for everything you do to keep these valued traditions alive. We truly appreciate all of the love and support that you continue to pour into us; YOU have truly made Poncho and I’s reign what it was, and we will be forever grateful. A much longer post is to come after my travels, but for now, my heart is so full! 🥹🖤🥘✨

A bittersweet evening was spent celebrating the beautiful reign of Miss St. James Parish, Carey, and her teen, Guilliana, as we welcomed in the 73rd Miss and 2026 Teen St. James Parish! ☺️🖤🥘✨🚜💚

Carey and Gu, congratulations on a wonderful year representing the only parish to produce and refine Louisiana sugar; it has been an honor to reign alongside both of you! And to the new Miss and Teen St. James Parish queens, Mackenzie and Miley, I cannot wait to travel and make memories with you both! ☺️🖤🥘✨🚜💚

An a-maize-ing morning was spent in Bunkie, as we celebrated the Louisiana Corn Festival with Queen Addie! We began with festival introductions, followed by the corn-shucking contest, a delicious lunch, the corn-eating contests, and a candy salad assembly. ☺️🖤🥘✨🌽💚

Thank you to Addie, her court, and her board for the invitation and hospitality; it was a beautiful day to enjoy Louisiana agriculture! ☺️🖤🥘✨🌽💚

This Gumbo Queen had the honor of attending the Little Red Church Food And Fun Festival, mass, and pageant honoring the reign of Queen Jordyn and Teen Ansley! It was a beautiful morning celebrating faith, friendships, and the sweetest little community! 😚🖤🥘✨⛪️❤️

This see-you-later was bittersweet, as it marked the beginning of watching some of my best friends complete their dream reigns. Jo, you did an incredible job representing your hometown and former school. I am so proud of you and cannot wait to see what the next chapter will bring! 😚🖤🥘✨⛪️❤️

April 18th, 2026!

A sweet morning was spent in my hometown at the La Fete du Monde Invitational Queens’ Day, where we toured the Raceland Raw Sugar Corporation grounds. Although we couldn’t enter the mill since it’s not cane season, we learned SO much about the history from Mr. Dan and were even able to see where the raw sugar is stored! ☺️🖤🥘✨🧑‍🍳❤️⚜️

Some fun facts that we learned are:
• The bagasse left over from the cane stalks is burned to generate steam for energy that powers the mill.
• The Raceland Raw Sugar Mill produces over 400 million pounds of sugar per year, and can store 320 million at a time.
• When you eat a Reese’s peanut butter cup, there’s a good chance the sugar comes from the Raceland/St. James/St. John area, and almost all nerd gummy sugar comes exclusively from the Raceland mill!

We then made our way to the festival grounds, where we designed the cutest festival-inspired buttons, participated in a team relay race, introduced ourselves on stage, and explored the Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Visitor Center displays! It was a beautiful day celebrating Queen Zayle, her court, and culture along Bayou Lafourche! ☺️🖤🥘✨🧑‍🍳❤️⚜️
