“The only thing I was certain about regarding the visuals of this project was that it needed to be tripod portraits that evoked a bygone era, so that it would be temporally associated with that time and place.

I felt that filming it on 16mm, and moreover, in 4:3, was a way to further enhance our concept, transporting us to the time in which I grew up—that was the intention.

Furthermore, this film is a love letter to my homeland, on the Mexican border. I believe that immortalizing it in this format was the right choice.” Director @hermanneudert

“Filming the Sonora Desert is something I love to do. The incredibly saturated colors that only the desert can capture on film are so beautiful. I feel like I’m in a painting, or like I’m looking at a photograph by Graciela Iturbide.

Filming with a camera as compact as the K3 is very practical for short shoots. I can shoot anywhere. Loading the film is incredibly easy and doesn’t take up any time. Especially if you love filming during the magic hours.” DP @Kennethneudert
