My summer was filled with passion and emotion. Learning the land and navigating my emotional patterns was a tasteful way to exist in such a beautiful place. I found myself surrounded by people and landscapes that held such beauty it changed me and forced me to grow. My emotions and perceptions were heavily influenced by the stone I was lucky enough to climb on. Forcing myself into hard positions taught me so much about myself, Good and bad.
Why is it that when I want to achieve something greater than where I stand physically and mentally, I have to be so critical of myself and force something inside of me to grow when it’s just not time yet. I rush myself to overcome challenges without enjoying the process of each little mental challenge I pass. I failed a lot this summer and beat myself down for it which was not healthy for me, I needed to break that pattern of being so critical of myself.
This last couple weeks I have been back home in Oregon with good friends & the person who keeps me on an even keel, My mother. She reminded me that surrounding myself with good people, putting my hands in the dirt, sand, brush, creating art, paddling out anyways, loving others, and more importantly loving yourself where you are is more important than most things this life tricks us into believing. Peace can be found even when we are still becoming the person we want to be.

Squam summer, again was so magical, filled with big hugs and small rocks.

It’s a sad thing to say goodbye, but only temporarily.

I will be back next summer, I promise you that.
