Luna Bear 🌙🐻 Jan 5, 2020 - Sept 30, 2026 🕊️

On March 15, 2020, the day the world shut down, my life changed forever.

I had just moved into my own home and was living alone for the first time. I was lonely, but didn’t want my bf at the time with me 24/7. He suggested I get a dog.

I found two tiny black pugs on Craigslist and fell in love with both. I couldn’t choose until one ran over and bit me. She had so much attitude, I thought, “Oh. She’s aggressive just like me.”

Then I saw her little white paw. Her lucky sock.

She chose me.

I named her Luna from Sailor Moon, but she looked like a tiny bear cub. And Luna Bear got her iconic name.

I’d never been sure marriage or kids were for me, but Luna Bear showed me I could be a mom and taught me unconditional love.

She went from destroying TWO pairs of my Valentino shoes to being my little angel. She learned tricks in four languages, solved puzzles instantly and even “sang” with me.

For almost seven years, she was my daughter, shadow, best friend and soulmate.

She was there through relationships, heartbreaks, career changes and every version of me. No matter what changed, I came home to Luna Bear.

I’ll miss her loud af snores, cuddles, sandy beach faces and our adventures. My bed already feels so empty.

Then came a rare, aggressive cancer.

First, I thought we had years. Then months.

Instead, we had days.

And God, I tried. Surgery, chemo, meds, specialists and endless vet visits. I hadn’t prayed in over 10 years, but I prayed for her.

I did my damn fucking best.

I fought while there was something worth fighting for. When more time meant suffering, I loved her enough to stop.

I’m grateful she joined my 30th birthday shoot and we had one last adventure in Big Sur. Somehow, I knew our time was short. That Virgo intuition never fails.

So I made it count.

To my Duling, Anak ko, Meri Jaan, ma chérie, Looney Toon, my little alopecia queen…

I love you.

Thank you for choosing me to be your mom.

And to the random psychic who told me my soulmate was a January Capricorn…

I realize now she wasn’t talking about a man.

She was talking about my dog. 🖤
