Me: "I didn't make ANYTHING this year 😭"
Also me: *made a bunch of things*

I’ve been beating myself up recently for wasting so much time and energy on my art, and yet I can’t help but to continue. I’ve been feeling like a failure, pouring all of myself into things I’m passionate about just for them to go nowhere. And yet, I keep trying. Is it stupidity? Is it resilience? After asking myself why I still try, I realize I still get something out of the work itself. Painting forces me to face my anxieties about not being good enough. I make mistakes, and I can fix them. Submitting them to shows builds a tolerance for rejection. I practice commitment even when I’m screaming in my head that I want to quit. And if I don’t quit I don’t have to live with the regret of knowing that I could have tried harder.

Maybe sometimes I spend too much time on a painting that started out poorly — an instructor of mine once referred to this as “polishing turd.” But regardless of whether what I make wins an award a a national show, rots in storage, or it goes directly into the trash, I grow every time.

I didn’t make much in 2025, but I've spray painted more this year than ever, and the quality is better than ever. My two recent portraits represent the direction I want to go, and it took a long time to find that. I've taken on some meaningful illustration projects. I know I am getting better at deciding what is worth my time. Whether or not my efforts are worth anything to anyone but myself, they served their purpose in that they made me better.

Cheers to living in the moment and our best work that lies ahead.

I've moved away from RI seven times, and came back seven times. My love for this city is what keeps bringing me back. Most people haven't heard of Rhode Island. In California I heard a lot of, "You're from Long Island?" They make all sorts of assumptions about what we do and don't have here. They might hear that we're close to Boston and New York. They might hear that our rent is cheaper than theirs. Some of them dream about coming to our colleges. For many of them, that's exactly why they come, and they fall in love with what we have.

Providence is so much more than our proximity to other cities. We have an underground music scene, award-winning restaurants, and an abundance of creatives in every form. We have grit and community. We were recently rated the safest state for the LGBTQ community. People who live here can comfortably assume that the people around them care about immigrants and know that fascism is bad. We are empathetic, hard working, and connected. Providence is where DIY meets do-it-together. We have enough of everything, and yes, access to more.

Our city is scarred by the Brown University shooting. It was an act of terror not only on the University, but on the city, the state, the region, higher education, schools, and the American public. The reality is, we are no more or less safe today than we were the day before the shooting. Anywhere in America where more than 4 people can gather there is a risk of a mass shooting. This didn't happen because we're a "liberal" state or a sanctuary city, or because the shooter was an immigrant. It happened because this country values guns more than human life.

We are all heartbroken over the loss of Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov and Ella Cook, and the other eight who were shot. I have a hard time counting only ten victims, since every witness, relative, and community member were also impacted forever by this violence.

In the coming days and years, the love and creativity and community that is so essential to our city will be exactly what will help us heal.

Love you Providence

Yo, Kenny & I just want to say thank you to everyone that came out, skated, vended, supported, or performed at this year’s BREAK YOUR BOARD.

Our only real goal was to make it better and bigger than the first one (last year) and thanks to y’all we accomplished that! It was dope seeing different generations of the Rhode Island skate scene in the same place and y’all killed the mini ramp.

We could say so much more but to wrap up… we look forward to doing more cool sh*t.

P.S. we wish we took the group picture a little earlier to get everybody in it haha… but shoutouts to @rafeakspvd for capturing the moment.
