The 2026-2027 Taproots Artists Residency Intensive kickoff was truly inspiring! Still so much to digest, but most importantly, we received tools and education to use our artistic practice to raise awareness, strengthen community, and care for ourselves to fight climate change. Among other things, we discussed our framework for cultural organizing, the 4Rs of Social Transformation and principles of Just Transition. Every single one of us brought the best of ourselves and discussed our current work and shared. We had some amazing workshops with Jodi Lasseter @ncclimatejustice, Ms Connie @leeperconnie, Dasan @dasanahanu, Miss Kristal @kristalhsuggs and Molefi Ramos @eggystrange all making it work so beautifully. Lake Logan was absolutely gorgeous. And we had a chance to try regional specialty Appalachian Chocolate Gravy. We brought an artistic offering for talent night, which was fun and uplifting. There is more coming over the next weeks, months and year, but the breathtaking scenery will be with me always. Can't wait to see what we all do next! Most of these were taken by me but the 1st was our group photo and 14th (Allison and I for collab presentation) was Dasan Ahanu. 📷 Still have more digging through the crates:) and files to do. Music was performed by Mo @eggystrange.
