I used to think changing my mindset meant thinking more positively.

Then I noticed something…

Most of my actions began with thoughts I’d never questioned.

Sometimes I’d walk into a room with the story already written. I’d already decided how things were going to go before they even happened.

One mindset changed everything for me:

What if I’m the problem?

Not as blame.

As curiosity.

In Hawaiian tradition, the long-held practice of hoʻoponopono invited people to stop, listen, and genuinely see from another person’s perspective. A more recent healing practice carries four familiar phrases: I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.

For me, both point toward the same invitation:

See things differently.

And when I changed what was happening inside… I started noticing my outside world changing too.

Great seeing my buddy that I went to college with in Hawaii! He was also the best tour guide showing us around the Big Island back in the day! We had all you can eat sushi in Tempe! Even the server wanted to hop in the photo!

For years I’ve been dismissing my calling. Once I got over how “crazy” it all sounded - well - I felt like I got to meet some dude that reminds me of home

Life is Life. It’s a time and a space to Be.

It’s that simple. And when putting attention onto what that means becomes all you think about - then I figure I have to start.

Today we got to hear from a couple people who just signed up for the Breathwork Facilitator Certification course.

They shared why they joined and what they’ve seen and experienced in the course and community since they signed up a day ago.

We did two breaths together. The receptive breath and buzzing bee breath.

Have you ever wondered how things just LINE UP in life - I'm talking about the level to which there must be someone out there looking over you kind of LINE UP?

I followed my gut to a thrift store in Idaho, and came across what I consider a MASTER pianist...the dude is only 20 years old!

Spencer Hinton's passion fed my own internal needs, in a time when I have been experimenting in manifesting.

This encounter proves so many things to me....
1) We manifest the lives we live. That's right - nearly EVERYTHING that we experience comes from our own lives. That is a LOT of pressure, when you think about it.
2) We can choose. We can choose how we show up, how we embrace the day, and how we view through the lenses we each choose to experience it. May you choose love, my friends.
3) When we condition ourselves for better outcomes, the frequency of positive results tend to increase.

I'm on a mission to spread the word.

2024 has been a year full of “firsts”.

🖼️ My first out-of-state mural. In April, I painted multiple walls at the new Indy Clover in Las Vegas, NV. @indyclover @indyclover_lasvegas

🎙️Launched my first podcast (+ first time charting on anything! Haha) with @mikeallen23 and Justin Brey (s/o to @johnnydinkel )

🗞️First time being featured in a major news publication (Deseret News) @deseretnews

🧘🏻‍♂️First time leading meditations and breath work

🧀 Made my first charcuterie board (my real dream job! 😜 wasn’t totally pretty but it’s a first)

🪂 First time skydiving (in Hawaii of all places!)

🏉 First time sponsoring a major league (Rugby) game (@hearebrotherhood / @utahwarriorsrugby )

🌲First time facilitating my own retreat

🎉First time putting on any type of festival (“Connect and Conquer” is this Saturday!) w/ @neuromastery_ @brockpainterofficial @finneganshawn @trevorfarnes @ben.checketts

👨🏻First time growing out a beard/stache long enough to curl the mustache

🤜🏼🤛🏼First time investing majorly in a coach (🫡Mitch Whiting )

📖 First time feeling worthy after reading Alma 5 in the Book of Mormon. Not because I’m sinless (ha!)- but because I am learning to live with grace and out of shame. And how to repent and actually change.

That last one is important because it perfectly ties all of this together. I believe one of the reasons I feel “worthy” is because I am constantly trying. I am failing and failing and failing. And occasionally succeeding. And failing. And repenting. And changing.

But at least I am trying. And I believe God really loves and values that. He loves it when we keep trying. He loves effort.

Did I do any of those things above perfectly, or even well? I’m not really sure, except that I gave them all a dang good effort.

And that fulfills me.

Keep trying new things.

Keep moving forward.

Keep repenting and changing.

Get uncomfortable.

Do things to embarrass yourself.

Overcome your fears.

Just keep trying.

🎉We’re extremely excited to announce our first ever Heare Hawaii retreat on O’ahu, Hawai’i from July 11-13th.  *Registration closes June 7th, 2024*

 Arrive Thursday, July 11th at our site, about a 40 minute drive from the Honolulu airport. We’ll start in the evening with an opening circle.

Friday and Saturday agenda will include: - guided meditations and journaling - connecting with mother nature - defining our mission statements - transformation lab - breathwork session - fire knife dance - skydiving or swimming with sharks (optional; separate cost)

- 2 nights at a beautiful site which will have a mix of available beds and some camping – bring a mat, sleeping bag or blankets. Some sleeping mats will be available. There are three private rooms available for extra cost.

I feel completely overjoyed about this, and pretty humbled.

Last night, @deseretnews published an article about @hearebrotherhood and it is the featured article. 🥳

I love seeing a bunch of standup men that I love, gracing the front page of Deseret News - you might recognize a few of them (photographed by the always-amazing @jpromx).

@mariyamanzhos did such an amazing job writing this piece. Well-researched and in a very eloquent way, she communicated what is happening with the epidemic of male loneliness, and why men are almost 4 times more likely than women to die by suicide.

But also what many groups, including Heare Brotherhood, are trying to do to solve the problem.

She captured the essence of what we’re trying to accomplish, and I hope this article will reach as many people as possible.

The title is, “Men are lonely and disconnected. Can men’s groups help?”

I’ll answer it by the comment of an amazing man who has been part of this community for almost a year now:

“This community is the single best thing l’ve done for myself in a very long time. As men, we crave vulnerability, even if we don’t realize it. [Heare] opens a whole community of real guys that are just wanting to have open, honest, non-judgmental conversations. I’ve seen it change the lives of so many, mine included!”

I’m so grateful to Mariya and the Deseret News for reaching out and sharing something so special and important to me and to us at Heare.

Heavenly Father knew my body wouldn’t be able to handle twins so he sent them separately but not by much! It’s amazing how much they have grown up!
