In honor of National Intern Day here’s a couple of my favorite moments from my time working with @13newsnow . It’s been such an amazing couple of months and experience working alongside everyone at the station, learning from them has really helped me take another step forward in my career. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have been the intern this summer, it’s going to hard a hard goodbye next week. I want to thank @_stephen_adams for being the biggest reason I am here in the first place, your support and mentorship means the world. And shoutout @lcoxnews for the cute pic we took today!! Here’s to this amazing summer doing what I love and seeing what future opportunities come next! #storyteller #journalist #intern #newsreporter

Shout out my new car for being the star of today’s story! Today, I looked into how newer model cars technology is changing the way car thefts happen and the simple steps drivers can take to better protect themselves. I had the chance to speak with a local locksmith about how keyless entry systems can be exploited and why tools like Faraday pouches can make a difference. I demonstrated it by testing a Faraday pouch with my own car on camera. Showing audiences how my car refused to unlock and start. Using my phone, my camera and a GoPro to capture it!

The highlight of the day? Getting creative with my stand-up with @michaelwoodward_757 AGAIN! this was probably one of my favorite stand-ups to date here!!

Check it out!!

I got to go in the Weather Impact Interceptor for a pretty neat live shot! You could see from the car as I was explaining the Canadian wildfire smoke just really taking over Hampton Roads. Not too bad for the first time! 😉 #weatherimpact #canadianwildfre #airqualityalert #live #virginia

Portsmouth Police are warning Facebook users of armed robbery scams. 🚨Officials say they’ve seen an uptick in incidents with 3 happening over the past few weeks. Buying thought they were buying a PS5 but when they met up in person they had a gun pulled on them. Here’s what detective Alvarez says people should do so they don’t become the next victim. #Scam #armedrobbery #portsmouth #facebookmarketplace #beware

Back in the trash…again! ♻️ I got a follow up with SPSA’s new SORT program and got to see the AI sorting machine in person! I geared up and took a tour of how it works to sort recyclables out of everyday trash. Also shout out @michaelwoodward_757 for the amazing video an editing in my standup! #ai #recycling #spsa #trash #portsmouth

This week, I had the opportunity to meet Newport News Police K9 Apollo and Officer Hobbs. When funding wasn’t available for Apollo’s ballistic vest, the community stepped up. Their generosity not only made sure Apollo received the protection he needed but also funded ballistic vests for two other K9s.
It was an honor to share their story and see firsthand the bond between Officer Hobbs and Apollo. #k9dogs #newportnewspd #hamptonroadsva #police #k9unit
