Race Recap 1:51:35 My second fastest half marathon. My fastest is still the one I ran with @jacquieandthegirls last year. I told her that too yesterday. Swipe to the end for when I saw her!

Having the convention center for runners to stay warm and use bathrooms before walking out to the corrals was nice. I caught with @runstrongrun & meet IG friends IRL @runwith.rey @runwithdreasped

Ofc the race started with Eminem playing hehe. My plan was to stay a bit behind the 1:50 pacer, take it easy on the bridge and catch up later. Within the first 5 mins of the race, I found @miwildmiles and her crew and we ran most of the bridge together. The bridge during the sunrise was magical! You had to be there!

On the way down, I was feeling great and picked up a little and not before long I caught up to the pacer and I went ahead of them. I felt strong in Windsor and I really enjoyed the spectator vibes there.

A little before the tunnel, the pace group caught up with me. Uh oh, but I was still feeling good and I kept them behind me.

Oof the tunnel. I was warned but I didn’t expect how much the heat and lack of air impacted me. The plan was to take it easy here but the pace group caught up and was leaving me in the dust. I tried to push but the tunnel zapped all my energy. Legs felt heavy and I wanted to get out of there. I seriously thought my race was done.

Once I came out, I felt fresh air again & I thought okay maybe I can still do this. Then I saw @theregoesvito whom I haven’t seen since we ran into each other on course @chimarathon 2 years ago. He hyped me up so much that I truly believe it helped me turn my race around! @_gilruiz_ was there too and I almost missed him.

The last 5 miles, I kept pushing knowing I’ll see @oye.natali & @thea.lu99 soon at 9.5. I also saw @rosonthelongrun All the familiar faces helped me so much. Mile 10, I got a text from my coach & I gave it all I had in the last 5K. Super proud of my race!

Post race, I saw @elyshaomoomy at the finish! Then, I had to rush a bit to get to my hotel to check out, because I had to get back out there for my marathoner friends!

Thank you everyone for making me feel like a hero yesterday

10K PR at the Houston Heights Run
.
First 10k race since Sept. 2021. Surprised myself on this one.

Had three goals going into this race:
1. Still get 40+ miles this week
2. Average a 6:50min pace (7min pace in 2021)
3. Just get a PR if the wheels fall off

6:39 pace, PR & 1st in my AG. Shoutout my CRA fam for always inspiring and holding accountability. @championsrunning

To the Track Tuesday Diner crew and the Pace Pack crew for pushing the limits: A rising tide lifts all boats

To my squad for showing up in the middle of their long run

To my wife and kids for waking up early, cheering and being my reason ‘why’ in all that I to do

And thank you to GOD for guiding me through another race and getting me to the finish line healthy.
.
Great race put on by @dan_barrun and the @houstonharriers. Highly recommend this event! And thanks to @houston.runner for the opportunity to run

🌵Dancing our way through the desert🌵

If there’s music, we’re moving! Might’ve been the only ones on the dance floor…what’s up with that, young people!? My joints are still recovering from all the dancing 😂
