This place is wild. // And it’s one of my favorites in the US. Grateful to spend some time here in the great outdoors for another incredible birthday weekend. September’s the best.

TLDR:
I’m back.
Life’s slow.
It’s my birthday.
I’ve missed you.

For the really dedicated:
Well, it’s been a year since I was exploring all over Vancouver & enjoying travel like it was something that would never end (pictured here last fall). And it’s been almost that long since I was regularly on socials. Honestly, I’m really enjoying a life free of constant notifications and non-stop distractions for my attention. But... I DO miss seeing day-to-day updates from all the people I love, so I thought I’d jump back on for a bit as life keeps moving and we band together to make it through the end of 2020. Ha.

It’s also my birthday today, so I’m turning another year older and it feels pretty bittersweet. Naturally, I’d love to stay young, but I also have a huge appreciation for the amazing gifts that come with time & age. Over the last few years (& specifically this last year+) I’ve learned the value of space and the importance of slowness. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed my twenties immensely, but now that I’m part way through the next decade I feel like my thirties have so much more depth & richness to them. Even though I’m by no means “old” I feel like as I get older, God becomes even more of a faithful father & a deep friend - things I can’t put a price on. I’ve seen His faithfulness in clear & evident blessings, but also in crazy hard challenges & silent seasons. It just seems like some of these valuable lessons have to be “lived” & experienced, and that’s something you can’t manufacture, filter a picture of, or get by staying forever young.

Anyhow, I’m living 2020 slowly (partly because of forces outside of my control, but really because it’s the journey I’ve been on since last year). And I’m finding so many incredible reasons to be thankful for the gift of years & getting older. I have a feeling it’s only going to get better. Celebrating today with so much gratitude for space in my schedule, slowness with Him, and deep + rich friendships.

Glad to be back on here for a bit and I hope you’re leaning into 2020 to learn as much as possible in these crazy & challenging times too. I’d love to hear how you’re doing this year?! I’ve been away too long!

Honestly, I’ve been using the @headspace app recently and it’s been super helpful. The regular routine of working on mind space & mindfulness, and the tips they give, have been perfect for me in this season.

One idea being that thoughts are like clouds that flow in and out of the mind & can get in the way of the clear blue sky, but the clear blue sky is always there. We just need to let the clouds clear. [Maybe that’s why I loved standing on these roofs in Santorini.] Also this quote, “No matter how much you might want the mind to be free from thoughts, resisting them only creates tension.” is perfect for an Enneagram 1 like me, who is *always* thinking - even when I don’t want to be.

This all may be just tmi or not interesting enough for some, but I’m here for it & the Lord’s been using it (along with some other important lessons), so I thought I’d share. I’d love any thoughts / feedback?!

Well it’s been another year and, as so many warned, they’re getting quicker and quicker. My thirties have been more exciting and fun than I expected, but have also been so stretching & filled with growth. I guess #thisislife. Still feeling blessed beyond what I deserve - with incredible family + friends, a job that I really love, and a home that’s been a haven to myself & others. I’m not sure what to expect from the year ahead but am certain that what is behind is a sign of His constant faithfulness to me. I’m so grateful to celebrate with those I love this whole week, and to head out for another restful/fun adventure tomorrow! Here’s to the next - even quicker - year to come. 😆🍻🥳🍾
