When writer Barry Waldman gave a ring to ask design questions for an article he was crafting for the @postandcourier, he said he knew nothing of decorating. Yet, a delightful “get to know each other”conversation ensued and I think he wasn’t giving himself enough credit.
Mr. Waldman; you wrote a comprehensive piece and I am humbled by your words and support.
Thank you to @sunshine.sailor for your gift of connecting people you know. I’m flattered beyond words.

Each guest room in our Los Feliz Contemporary project takes on its own character through hand-applied plaster by Kamp Studios, in tones drawn from the hillside beyond. This one pairs slate blue walls with a custom headboard in Scribe linen from Kerry Joyce’s collaboration with Heather Rosenman, its golden hue offering a warm counterpoint to the misty palette. In the en suite bath, the lunar cycle unfolds from floor to wall, with moon phases in the cement tile, half-moons in the mirrors and hammered bronze pulls, and full moons in the alabaster orb sconces.

This wingback chair was such a joy to design and the finished piece totally embodies the whimsy we were after.

I spent months sourcing to find the perfect combination of fabrics - we first landed on the red animal print, which became our guiding star in finding the ticking stripe and decorative cord to pair with it. I’m just obsessed with this playful mix of patterns!

A big, big thank you to @cosechadeclaire for bringing this piece to life so masterfully!

BEFORE THEY WERE KINGS 👑

From an original antique iron bed to a magnificent four-poster king canopy, designed for a Hollywood home.

Renowned interior and fabric designer Kerry Joyce commissioned Cathouse Antique Iron Beds to create this custom king-size conversion for a home he designed for actress Jami Gertz, a project featured in Metropolitan Home magazine.

The master bedroom's exceptionally tall ceilings presented an interesting challenge. Kerry wanted a canopy bed with the height and proportions to complement the room's architecture, without sacrificing the delicate beauty of the original antique ironwork.

Our solution? Convert the original bed to king size and create a custom four-poster canopy that would give the room the architectural presence it deserved.

The result is a wonderful marriage of 19th-century craftsmanship and thoughtful contemporary design.

Two photographs. One extraordinary transformation.

At Cathouse Antique Iron Beds, we've been giving original antique beds new lives for over 50 years.

When “good morning” is insufficient. I poured my soul into curating this breakfast nook with my trusting client and I just couldn’t be happier with the result. The English inspiration, the cozy comfort, the color combination, and the layers of varying pattern, age, and texture coalesce into a space like none other. Breakfast, anyone?

The enduring beauty of warm neutrals. In this Pacific Palisades home, a sitting area just beyond the primary bedroom brings together warm camel tones, natural textures, and classic blue-and-white porcelain. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, tailored upholstery, and a skirted table lend the space a sense of collected charm, while an @johnsaladino glass lamp introduces a sculptural note. A collected and timeless retreat where each element feels both purposeful and perfectly at home.

The only drawback of working on a dream project on lovely Kiawah Island is having to say goodbye. We've delighted in the process of bringing new life to the interiors of this beautiful house, designed and built to last for generations. Sourcing local antiques, art, and objets d'art is always a thrill for our team, and celebrating the Lowcountry vernacular throughout has given this house a sense of place, history, and warmth that makes it feel like home in every season.
