🎬 WE MADE A FILM. AND YOU MADE IT AN AUDIENCE FAVOURITE. 🖤

Our Black Screen Collective 48Hours film THREE O: OUT OF OFFICE made it through the first heat and came #2 in the Audience Favourite vote! 🙌🏾🔥

We didn’t make the Auckland finals this time, but we are incredibly proud of what this team achieved.

In just 48 hours, more than 20 Black creatives came together to write, shoot, act, direct, produce, edit, compose, problem-solve, laugh, learn and somehow get a whole film across the finish line.

For some of our crew, this was their first time making a film. For others, it was a chance to step into new roles, build their skills and work alongside other Black creatives.

And that was always bigger than one competition result.

The fact that audiences connected with what we made enough to vote us #2 Audience Favourite? That means a LOT. 🖤

Huge flowers to our entire cast and crew, and to everyone who watched, voted, shared and backed us along the way. 🌺

And now THREE O: OUT OF OFFICE is officially out in the world.

Watch it. Share it. Tell us what you think.

This is only the beginning for the Black Screen Collective. 🎬🖤

🎬 WE MADE IT THROUGH THE HEAT!!! 🎉🔥

Three O: Out of Office has been voted #2 in the Audience Top 3 for our Auckland heat! 🥳

For a team that came together to make a film in just 48 HOURS, this feels pretty damn special.

We set out to do more than make a film. We wanted to bring Black creatives together, create opportunities for people to try new roles, build relationships, learn from each other and prove what can happen when our community gets behind a shared creative challenge.

And look at us now. Audience Top 3! 🖤🎥

A massive congratulations to the entire Black Screen Collective cast and crew. Every late night, every problem solved on the fly, every take, edit, meal, laugh and moment of absolute exhaustion was worth it.

And THANK YOU to everyone who watched and voted for Three O: Out of Office. You got us here. 🙌🏾

We made a film.
We built a community.
And we made it through the first heat. 🔥

Onwards, Black Screen Collective! 🎬🖤

🎬 MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND THREE O

A film doesn’t get made in 48 hours by one person.

It takes writers, directors, actors, producers, camera, sound, music, editors, creatives, problem-solvers, food, laughter, very little sleep and a whole lot of trust.

For Three O: Out of Office, 23 Black creatives came together under Black Screen Collective to take an idea from nothing to a finished film in just 48 hours.

Some came with years of experience. Some were stepping into new roles. Some were working together for the very first time.

And that’s a huge part of why Black Screen Collective exists.

Not simply to make films, but to create opportunities for Black creatives to meet, make, learn, experiment and grow together.

This is the team behind Three O. 🖤🎥

Next stop: Saturday 22 August.

You’ll be able to watch Three O: Out of Office online and get behind our team from wherever you are.

23 creatives. 48 hours. One film.

🎬 INTRODUCING THREE O: OUT OF OFFICE

Black Screen Collective is back.

Earlier this month, 20 Black creatives came together for one wild weekend with one challenge: make a film in 48 hours.

We got Film Noir / Neo-Noir and this is what we made.

THREE O: OUT OF OFFICE

In this office, belonging comes with an alias.

A story about names, identity and what happens when fitting in asks you to leave a part of yourself at the door.

And now we finally get to share it with you. 🖤
Made by Black Screen Collective, an initiative of Black Creatives Aotearoa, for the Vista Foundation 48Hours 2026.

📅 Saturday 22 August
Our film hits the 48Hours heats and you’ll be able to watch online and support the film from wherever you are.

For now, meet Three O.

WE DID IT. 🎬✨

At 6:59pm, with just one minute to spare, we hit submit.

Our second film as Black Screen Collective, THREE O: Out of Office, is officially in the 2026 Vista Foundation 48Hours competition HUZZAH!

But this weekend was always about more than just making a film…

Over 48 hours, strangers became teammates, teammates became family, ideas became stories, and a community came together to create something none of us could have made alone.

There were long hours, unexpected challenges, countless laughs, problem-solving on the fly, and so many moments of generosity, creativity and trust.

Every single person brought something unique, and every role mattered.

Our community were involved in writing, directing, acting, producing, shooting, recording sound, composing music, editing, capturing BTS, feeding the crew, running errands, keeping the dishwasher going and all the while supporting each other - what a special bunch!

Magic happens when Black creatives come together with a shared purpose, we connect, we create and collaborate!

Massive ups to our incredible cast and crew: thank you for believing in this vision and giving it everything you had!

Here’s to many more films, many more collaborations, and many more stories waiting to be told.
