Dear friends,
I need your help!

Many of you know me and how much I dislike labels. I’m not here to talk about that. No matter what your denomination is, we should all be for a Judaism that is uniting and inviting, where we truly show Ahavat Israel towards one another.

I profoundly believe that pluralism is essential to the fabric of Israeli society. No matter your minhag, your background, your status, your level of observance - Judaism is and should always be a loving, embracing and safe refuge for every Jew.

I believe in uniting, not rejecting and dividing. This isn’t the time to focus on affiliations or denominations. It’s a time to act.
Israel is a true miracle of our time, and she should always remain both a Jewish and Democratic state. We must strive to preserve that. We do that by ensuring that there is space for Jewish pluralism. Mutual respect for one another despite our differences.

This movement relies primarily on donations from people like you.

And you may think that you can’t donate more than a small amount. But that is exactly what we need. We need enough good people like you to come together to make a big change.

This amazing group of people from the Masorti movement that I have had the privilege of working with, they have provided a beautiful, spiritual, traditional Jewish home for so many Jews that don’t fit into your standard mould. The future of Judaism in Israel depends on groups like the @masorti_movement @masorti_foundation and many such groups that contribute and give so much back.

The Masorti movement and I need your help.

I’m not asking you to donate a huge amount. I just need you to give any amount that you can. If you can’t donate, please share this.

Please click on the link in the Bio - JGive - you can choose from several languages and currencies.

Remember, together we can make a difference.

Are YOU interested in connecting with the land, Jewish practice, and food justice? Then check out our farm fellowship session for spring 2023!
.
.
.
“The pioneer Aaron David Gordon at the beginning of the twentieth century sought to promote physical labour and agriculture as a means of uplifting Jews spiritually and was hugely influential.
.
.
.
He wrote: ‘It is labour (by which he meant agricultural labour) which binds a people to its soil and to its national culture, which in its turn is an outgrowth of the people's toil and the people's labour.’ For him, working the land was a return to the national culture of the Jewish people and would help to rebuild that culture.
.
.
.
It is something of a cliché that Jews are not farmers now, but in fact we had a farmer in our congregation and I had a Jewish friend who grew up on a farm - Jewish farmers are not as unusual as we think.
.
.
.
Sadeh is a Jewish farm which is building on this tradition. They are the only farm in Europe which is organised by Jewish people in order to put Jewish principles into practice. They celebrate Jewish festivals and observe Shabbat.
.
.
.
They [Sadeh] farm organically and donate their produce to local foodbanks so that children can benefit from fresh produce. They [Sadeh] also engage children and adults in nature-based learning.
.
.
.
Sadeh are restoring a long tradition of Jewish farming and putting Jewish principles into practice in their care for the earth and for others.”
.
.
.
Thank you To Margret Jacobi for these beautiful words about farming, Jewish community, and @sadeh_farm 🧑‍🌾🧑‍🌾🧑‍🌾

“He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” (Tehillim 23:3)
.
.
Like a burning flame, our soul struggles to defy gravity, to soar upward, rising above our worldly concerns and desires.
.
.
The practice of seclusion (Hitbodedut) takes place away from the city, on a secluded road, in a place not frequented with people. And so, we begin with emptying out our heart and mind of all worldly matters, negating everything until we merit true bitul (self-surrender), where we cancel out everything that is an obstacle. In doing so, we separate the divine from the mundane. Through this experience, our soul is encompassed in the embrace of its source, in the welcoming arms of the Divine.
