INTRODUCING: 🌳 In the Trees 🌳
A hand drawn tree scenic mural printed on trees, yes please! We loved working with @des_ob to create this special mural for @livealtarochelle’s gorgeous co-working amenities space. The property is filled with this wood panel millwork and the designers @des_ob called on us to upgrade the conference room paneling with some custom artwork. We partnered with the talented and handsome 😏 @kevinb_reilly to help illustrate the concept into life complete with 15 hidden gems within the treescape! The designers were also able to utilize the artwork for the framed custom signage and wayfinding throughout the property. 🐦 🐦 🪨

Been a week! My word… a very sweet celebration of love where i got to catch up with my brother from another mother, along with a handful of good pals and made some new ones 💞

Not pictured was a beautiful benefit exhibition for Reify, an amazing organization working to directly assist families being tortured by ICE, by providing legal support, housing, groceries…. Raquel Bueno and a fleet of activists, musicians and fellow artists came together and it was awesome to be part.

Had to take the Tuff man to the vet for eye inflammation 🙁 irritant still a mystery, but he’s all better now!

Had a belated bday FaceTime with Mom, who is convinced no one can hear her unless she’s right up on that speaker! 😂 We couldn’t be together this year due to Covid, so she baked me a Dolly Parton yellow cake with chocolate icing (my cake of choice since i was old enough to choose) and shipped it all the way from Amelia Island with candles and cards and the whole shabang. We iced it, decorated it and lit it up together over the phone and it’s still delicious and living in my freezer for a rainy day.

Was spoiled rotten by a couple of my favorite women on the actual day 💘💘 Thank you!!! to the moon 🌝❤️

Getting into a good rhythm in the studio…

And finally, enjoying a little home time in between phone calls and emails & winging my way through making a pretty phenomenal eggplant & cashew dip 😋 daydreaming about the next show @juliamartingallery that i have been anticipating for some time…. So excited for Shabazz Larkin on November 1st. Mark your calendar! ✅

@dozenbakerynashville has always been a tremendously special place for New Hat. If it weren’t for @cmeneely asking me if I could make a wallpaper for the OG Dozen bathroom in 2015, then I wouldn’t have asked @kellycdiehl to collab and therefore New Hat may never have been born! So, it felt very special to get to make wallpaper for teenage Dozen as teenage New Hat! We’ve learned a great many things about wallpaper since 2015. A few things remained the same about this paper though: handpainted backgrounds with the special @kellycdiehl touch, HANDS as theme, and @grandpalace_nashville on the silkscreen!

The new things about Hands 2.0: an early morning photo trip to Dozen to capture photographs of bakers hands as reference imagery for the illustrations, giant brush invention by @davidmeaney, gorgeous hand illustrations by @kevinb_reilly, and we printed on rolls instead of sheets this time! There are also 4 restrooms now and we decided to create 4 distinct colorways: Bread and Butter, Jam, Lettuces & Dozen blue. Very proud of this version of Dozen and its wallpaper. I love our community and the history we are creating. 💙 Rumor has it we may be able to have this wallpaper design available as a tea towel for you in the future!
