Two weeks ago today we had to do the worst thing we’ve ever done and say goodbye to our best friend, our family, the magnificent Jan Fran Lampart. There’s so much to say and the words still won’t find me. She was bigger than life. She made strangers smile on the street every single day. She made MERYL STREEP smile (January 1, 2023 in Silverlake by the rec center walkway), people would stop and ask about her. She was a bunny she was a bear she was a bug she was a bat she was a bee. I am so lucky to have spent 14 full years of her 17 (maybe more???) years on this planet with her as my constant sidekick. When Kevyn came into the picture 3 years later she didn’t bark at him and immediately was like “he’s mine” (she barked at everyone at the time). She was with me through everything. She taught me SO MUCH. She set the template for love, how to love myself. She made me better at loving other people. She inspired every single thing I did. She shared the stage with me and was the biggest star. She was so happy on our wedding day. We thought we’d lose her in 2019, and then again in 2023. She kept bouncing back. This ancient dog was still having late night zoomies up until January of this year. People thought she was a puppy, right up until her last day with us. We let her eat chicken wings and a lamb chop and puppy ice cream and we took her on our first swan boat ride at one of her favorite places to poop, Echo Park Lake. It was a peaceful and beautiful send-off and I literally carried her tiny body swaddled in a giant white blanket out of her house and over the rainbow door mat to a king size dog bed in a modest minivan. My heart has never been broken this hard but I’ve also never known love as big as Jan’s. She traveled across the country, to Mexico, to the Grand Canyon TWICE, she camped, she kayaked, she partied with some of the greatest comedians, artists, and friends in Southern California and beyond. We miss her so much and can’t believe she’s gone. Thank you to everyone who reached out, sent flowers, food etc. we just can’t believe the love she brought. Thank you to everyone who loved her, she loved you right back. WHAT. A. DOG. Jan forever. 🫶✨🌈🐾❤️
