Key Biscayne needs a new vision for its public school.

Our community has grown and changed, and our children deserve a school that reflects the future we are building together. A strong public school supports families, strengthens neighborhoods, improves safety, and helps preserve the character and vitality of the island.

This is not about criticizing educators or school officials. It is about recognizing that the community must plan responsibly for the next generation.

The Village should be a strong and constructive partner with Miami-Dade County Public Schools in developing a modern, high-quality K-8 school for Key Biscayne.

Our children deserve the very best. Our community should expect nothing less.#keybiscayne

The Rickenbacker Causeway should not force a choice between moving traffic and safe cycling.

When Pelotons occupy both lanes, cars are delayed and drivers are placed in a difficult position. That conflict is not sustainable, especially during the morning school commute. E bikes add another safety concern.

The answer is a protected bicycle path that continues across the entire Causeway. Cyclists need a safe route, drivers need predictable traffic, and our children need a safe way to get to school.

A Causeway every family can trust.

Re elect Fernando Vázquez, Number 148.

Since 2012, Key Biscayne has pursued several initiatives to improve educational opportunities for our children—from expanding access to MAST Academy to facility improvements and addressing flooding around the public-school campus.

These were meaningful efforts. But they addressed individual pieces, not the whole.

This is not a criticism of our teachers, administrators, students, or parents. They continue to accomplish extraordinary things.

The larger question is: What should public education in Key Biscayne look like for the next generation?

It is time to bring the School Board, educators, parents, and Village together to create one comprehensive vision—addressing educational programs, facilities, flooding, and our long-term needs.

A world-class community deserves a world-class public school that families are proud to choose.

No more patchwork. It is time to plan for the future.

🦈💙 WHAT A NIGHT, SHARKEY FAMILY!

Our first PTSA Community Night was everything we hoped it would be — families connecting, kids exploring, our community coming together, and so many people simply showing up for KBK8.

To our incredible volunteers, alumni parents, KBK8 families, teachers, staff and administration — thank you. From setting up and breaking down, stepping into the Sharky mascot, lending a hand wherever it was needed, and even being brave enough to take a turn in the dunk tank 💦 — you helped make this night possible.

To our Sharkey Dad Squad who fired up the grill, and our amazing community partners and vendors who came out to share their programs, resources and talents with our families — thank you for investing your time and energy in our school community.

And most importantly, thank you to every family who showed up. ❤️ Your presence, participation and support are what turn an event into a community.

This night was also about something bigger. Community Night helped support one of our first initiatives of the year: bringing the Biscayne Nature Center experience to KBK8 students, creating more opportunities for hands-on learning, exploration and connection with the natural world around us. 🌿

For families who would like to learn more about this initiative or continue supporting it, information is available through the 🔗 link in our bio.

And this is only the beginning. ✨

When our school, families and community show up together, we can do so much for our Sharkeys.

One Fin. One Family. An Ocean of Possibilities. 🦈🌊

With gratitude,
KBK8 PTSA

📣KBK8 FAMILIES — THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP!

Community Night is about more than welcoming everyone back to school. It’s about bringing our school, families and Key Biscayne community together in one place — for our students. 💙

Come meet the local organizations and programs available to our Sharks, explore opportunities for sports, enrichment, tutoring, wellness and more, and discover resources that can support your child throughout the school year.

And while parents connect and explore, there will be plenty for our Sharks to enjoy along the way — music, food & treats, face painting, activities and a few surprises. 🎨🎶🍧

You’ll also have a chance to meet the KBK8 PTSA, learn what we’re working on this year and find out how YOU can get involved.

Because this is what PTSA is all about: connecting our families, our school and our community to create more opportunities for our students.

📅 Thursday, August 20
⏰ 5:00–7:00 PM
📍 KBK8 Campus

Bring the kids. Bring another KBK8 family. Come say hello. Explore. Connect. And help us kick off the year together.

A huge THANK YOU to the local vendors and community partners joining us! 💙

The Autonation field at STU has a new addition to it. The Stand seems to be on track to be used this 26/27 season.
They started pouring concrete 3 months ago and the summer holidays have seen a really quick progression.
Excited to host a few home games in the coming months.
