Check out these photographs of my play 'Democracy.' These were taken from @keyboredworks recent Four By Four: A Short Plays Showcase. This was a fantastic evening; the cast, director, and producers did an excellent job of bringing my work to life.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to @keyboredworks for taking a chance my play Coeden Hiraeth and for these awesome shots.
As I've said, I first heard the story of Rhys and Meinir on @lorepodcast several years ago and always thought that there was so much potential for a stage adaptation. Thank you for helping me see that vision come true.
Fellow writers, keep your eyes peeled for more opportunities from KeyBored Works and get your stuff out there!

We have got some great news for a very niche group. ;)

That's right: today - August 28th 2026 - you have not one but TWO chances to see the work of yours truly here in London.

1) For one night only: @keyboredworks presents Four by Four: A Short Play Showcase featuring my piece 𝑪𝒐𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑯𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒆𝒕𝒉, a take on the Welsh story of Rhys and Meinir.

2) As part of @thecamdenfringe , 𝑨 𝑻𝒘𝒐 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝑯𝒂𝒎𝒍𝒆𝒕. Yes, @sharmilapeake and I are back at it this weekend at @weareoldred

Links for tickets to both shows are in the comments below. Please get on out there and support the theatre scene!

Due to the fact I'll be playing the "Hamlet game" tonight, I unfortunately can't attend the reading of Coedin Hiraeth, but I am so grateful to everyone at KeyBored Works for this opportunity, including the director and cast. <3

Once upon a time, I was listening to @lorepodcast and heard the story of Rhys and Meinir. I was taken by the mixture of love and horror and thought, "Huh. I think that could translate well to the stage."

Cut to a few years later when I was in my Dramatic Structure class at Essex and had to write a thirty-page play or scene as the final project. Seeing as I came out to the UK to try new things, I decided to take this opportunity and try my hand at that classic Welsh tale I'd once heard.

Like "Letters From the Tower", this was going to be outside my comfort zone, but I figured a class was as good a place as any to attempt it.

Now "Coeden Hiraeth" is coming to @keyboredworks upcoming Four by Four Short Play Showcase on Friday, August 28th at 7pm.

I'm so excited to share this piece with the world outside my classroom and hopefully develop it more.

I'll be honest, I'm very nervous about how some people may feel about an American telling a Welsh story. Indeed, when my instructor Jonathan (who is Welsh) first read through the script, he said, "It's good, but there's nothing that tells me it takes place in Wales. It has a very American voice." He instructed me to go read some Dylan Thomas and watch "The Corn is Green". I've tried my best, but the piece is still a work-in-progress which is why this upcoming staged reading is so important.

Thank you to everyone at KeyBored Works and we'll see you at the theatre!

Day #1 The Director’s Chair & The Magic of Wimbledon 🎭 And so it begins. Day #1 of 365. Welcome to my truth. ✨
I’m starting this diary series on a complete high. I’ve just finished directing two pieces at Comedy Scratch Night, at the
New Wimbledon Theatre, and honestly? My heart is so full. There is something truly transformative about stepping away from the spotlight and into the director’s chair.
To the cast: you were nothing short of spectacular. Watching you bring these characters to life with such vulnerability and precision reminded me why I fell in love with this industry in the first place. The energy in that Edwardian theatre is something else—you can feel the history in the wings. 🏛️❤️ well we were at tiny studio but it does not make it any less important for me…
Being an actress is one thing, but being a director? It’s a different kind of juggling act. It’s about holding space for everyone else’s creativity while trying to keep your own vision clear. It was exhausting, exhilarating, and exactly where I was meant to be this week.
Here’s to the start of a year-long journey of honesty. The highs, the lows, and everything in
between. Let’s do this. 🥂#TheCreativeJugglingAct #AnyaMcGregorDiary #DirectorLife NewWimbledonTheatre

Three years ago, I moved to the UK with a suitcase full of dreams and one clear goal: to pursue my acting career.

Life, however, has a beautiful way of opening unexpected doors.

Yesterday, I stepped into a new role — not as an actress, but as a theatre director. At my very first Comedy Scratch Night @keyboredworks , I had the privilege of directing two incredible pieces, and what an unforgettable evening it turned out to be.

A full house. Every ticket sold. A room filled with talent, creativity, laughter, nerves, courage, and so much heart.

I met the most inspiring artists @magic_in_your_plantpot @francescaandersontravelsize @chel.fern @felix_de_mounteney and watched stunning performances unfold in front of an audience that embraced every moment. The atmosphere was electric, warm, and deeply moving. One of those nights that reminds you exactly why you fell in love with storytelling in the first place.

Today, I’m still carrying the feeling with me. It’s like butterflies in my stomach have transformed into wings. There’s excitement, gratitude, and this beautiful sense that something new is beginning. That perhaps it’s time to fly a little higher and trust where this journey is taking me.

To everyone who came, performed, supported, and shared this evening with us — thank you. 🙏🎭You made it magical.

Here’s to new challenges, unexpected paths, and the courage to say “yes” when opportunity knocks. ✨🎭❤️
