L.A.’s Monday Nights – the weekly residency of @arthurlabuckner and the Homework House Band – bring serious heat to @icehousempls every Monday from 8 to 11 p.m.
L.A. is a determined and creative drummer (from Minneapolis’ North Side) who attracts some of the most talented musicians to this weekly gem, including but not limited to keys man @kgbeats300 or DJ @mickey.breeze, both of whom are featured in this video.
Here, they were riffing on “Eye of the Tiger” into “Another One Bites the Dust,” part of an extended set Monday that paid respects to Hip Hop and the jazz and funk legends that inspired it.
There were nods to @milesdavis to @officialjdilla and everyone in between.
If you love funky, improvisational jazz, get down to Icehouse one of these Mondays!

When I created my first sound healing project (Moods & Meditations) in 2020, my goal was to take the healing metaphysical properties of meditation soundscapes and connect them directly to the legacy and music traditions of the Black diaspora. I wanted to show these soundscapes could be soulful and swing while still serving the same healing properties. My goal was to create a pathway for more casual listeners to get into sound bathing and sound healing practices by incorporating beats, bass, and electronic language into the more traditional sound bathing stylings. I wanted people to be able to connect to these practices in their own ways and find peace, healing, and rest through music. ‘Moods & Mantras’ builds upon this practice by incorporating the spoken word, and using music and mantras together as a conduit to program healing, love, and peace into the mind.

Much love to my fellow sound healers and collaborators for manifesting this project with me.
