This week on #METNews with @the.alexandra.archives, What do Jagan Badvel and Jeff Panzarella have in common? Well……. they’re both a part of amazing projects on the horizon - Stay tuned to find out more.

What happens when casting directors fail to be thoughtful about their casting process? Khalid Rivera dished on just this issue and how it affects production. Check out last week’s #virtualredcarpet for all the details.

And do you remember Nazli Sarpkaya? We bet you do! Well, she’s back with the production of a play in Turkish titled “Ormantik Komedi.” This pioneering production is serving Turkish communities across the nation and opens in Atlanta, GA at the end of May. Don’t miss it – it’ll only be around for a month.

And let’s not forget about Salma Qarnain Shaw - her feature film “Basement” is now available on Amazon Prime. But let’s talk about her production company “Black Man Films” birthed during the pandemic with Roderick Law. The first short film “Silent Partner” is making waves in the film festival scene – keep an eye out for when it comes to your city.

This week from @The.Alexandra.Archives get ready for a little scandal – Me and Mrs. Jones by Billy Paul and penned by the Gamble and Huff team in 1972 leaves little to the imagination. It paints the scene of the emotional push and pull of an affair. So, allow yourself to enjoy the soulful vocals, horns and strings as you indulge in the mischief of it all.

Until next week. . .

Alexandra Williams goes live-on-tape from Marcus Garvey Park where in 1969 an event took place that we only heard about decades later.
We bring you "MET News" from the site of "Summer of Soul", the 2021 Oscar for Best Documentary.

In our latest installment of MET News, we break the news that Khalid Rivera is playing Carla in the Mill Mountain Theatre's production of "In The Heights".
We drop tea on Sweta Keswani, Zach Galifianakis and Cat Cimino.

And from @The.Alexandra.Archives we dig out a Sly and the Family Stone fav. The group active from 1966 to 1983, was pivotal in the development of funk, soul, rock, and psychedelic music. Today we leave you with "Sing a Simple Song."

Until next week. . .

It was more than 1 but less than 2000. The actual views for our inaugural month of MET's Virtual Red Carpet, Live on Insta totalled 1370. NOT BAD!
Thank you Jeff Panzarella, Mary Lou Simo and Chandler Gregoire and Sweta Keswani for agreeing to start us off on this virtual adventure.

For our second month we have topics ranging from how to keep busy in-between self tapes to dreams do come true with hosts Arron Lloyd, on the former and Khalid Rivera, on the latter topic.
Annette E. Alvarez, the co-founder of Multi-Ethnic Talent will kick off the month and we will end with Angel Yau. Angel's topic: Mental health taboos in the Asian community.

Join us every Wednesday at noon, right here on Insta Live. And if you can't, the re-stream is only a click away.
