Am Worlds Recap! I did a thing, and I did it well 😎

But to me, the biggest victory was recognizing and redirecting my mentality when I was letting the competition overshadow my enjoyment of the sport.

Unexpectedly having the lead after round one left me with a lot of expectation about how I could or should finish. For two rounds, I let this expectation hold a prominent place in my mental game. It was hole 14 of round three, after missing another birdie opportunity, when I looked to Jeff and said “I’m not having fun.” The realization hit me like a sack of bricks.

I didn’t come to Am Worlds to win. I came to have a good time playing disc golf with other talented women. The only way I could truly lose the tournament was to walk away having not had fun. And I was letting my attention to relative scores take me down that path.

It took me the rest of the round, evening, and some of the next morning to shake off the weight of my own expectation. But thanks to my stellar caddy, friends, and card mates, I managed to refocus on my own game and just enjoying the experience of playing in a Major Disc Golf Tournament.

It worked. A hot round 4 put me back in the mix. I let my excitement for a redemption round be my drive for the final at Bond Lake, which led me back into a fight for the lead.

While I wasn’t crowned champion, I did get exactly what I came for. I played great disc golf, and got to meet so many cool, talented, and kind disc golf women. I also got to watch a 13 year old player take it all down 🤯 I left feeling invigorated about the sport, and amped for the future of women's disc golf.

Fist bumps all around.

But wait! I'd be remiss to not mention that Jeff was the real hero of my tournament. I would not have played as well without his level headed decision making (when I listened) and good vibes amping up all the players on every card. His support kept me bolstered through the rough rounds, and his confidence in me was contagious. Grateful to have such a great guy on my team ❤️

Huge thanks to everyone who made the event such a success! And special shout out to all the PA women who crushed it all week!
