As ESN Azerbaijan, we reached out to our member Khumar Huseynova to learn more about her international experience ✨

Currently volunteering in Timişoara, Romania through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), Khumar is a force of nature at just 18 years old. Having already completed a FLEX exchange year in the USA and spent time in Turkey, she chose Romania as a strategic bridge toward her dream career in International Tourism and Hotel Management. For Khumar, Timisoara isn’t just a destination; it’s a multicultural hub where her passion for education and cultural exchange truly comes to life.

Her daily life is a testament to the power of “learning by doing.” Whether she is designing interactive workshops for local youth or mastering technical skills like web design and digital marketing, Khumar is constantly evolving. Working in a diverse international team has allowed her to sharpen her leadership and project management skills, proving that even the most daunting cultural barriers can be overcome with open communication and a growth mindset.

The true heart of her journey, however, lies in the impact she leaves behind. Khumar recalls organizing lessons for disadvantaged children in local schools and kindergartens as a major turning point. Seeing the spark of curiosity in their eyes didn’t just make for an unforgettable memory, it solidified her mission to become a global “changemaker” who expands international opportunities for youth in rural areas.

Khumar’s message to young people everywhere is clear: “Don’t wait for opportunities – create them. Don’t be afraid of ‘no’ and always stay open to learning.” Her journey is a powerful reminder of how stepping outside your comfort zone contributes to both deep personal growth and professional excellence. 🚀
