✨ This month’s collaboration theme: MAGIC 🔮🪄
I really enjoyed creating this collaboration with my friend! 💜 It was so much fun bringing our ideas together and turning the theme of “Magic” into this little magical world. ✨

My friend @khushbu.illustrates did such a beautiful job ...swipe to see her part, and I genuinely loved seeing how both our artworks came together. 🥹🦄💫
So grateful for this fun little creative experience! 💜✨

This piece is deeply inspired by the extraordinary women who inhabit the world of Rabindranath Tagore’s stories. Long before society learned how to listen to them, Tagore was writing female characters who were beautifully complex, deeply intelligent, and fiercely independent. Whether it is the brilliant and forward-thinking Labanya from Shesher Kobita, the unapologetic and resilient Binodini from Chokher Bali, or the creatively restless Charulata, his heroines refused to be bound by the restrictive norms of their era. They were never mere background figures; they possessed a quiet, unshakeable confidence and a radical freedom of the mind.
As Tagore brilliantly penned in Chitrangada:
"মুক্ত করিস নে কো তারে, আকাশ যেমন মুক্ত।"

(Mukto koris ne ko tare, aakash jemon mukto.)

"Let her be free, as the sky is free."

Through this illustration, I wanted to capture that very essence—a woman who is not just elegant and poised, but entirely free-willed, grounded in her own strength, and completely the author of her own destiny.

♡ ▪︎ A Rainy Day ▪︎ ♡

Remember how pretty the rain looks like,
And how liberating it is in it to drive a bike.
The sky is growling as if venting out it's anger,
But the scorched earth is soaking every ounce of it.

Remember how dark and dusty the sky gets,
The sun hides as if scared of some threats.
How beautiful are the muddy puddles,
When the Parijatak swims in it through ripples.

The constant sound of pouring metronome calms you down,
And suddenly just a glance at the window vanishes your frown.
Even in that stormy dusky gloom,
The earth, the trees, birds and even our heart finds solace.

So, remember when you are having an outburst,
And you feel you are at your worst,
When your head is throbbing like a thunder,
Remember that it's a sign new flowers will grow.

Remember sometimes you have to pour tears,
And shout out loud your fears,
To calm your agitating angst
And to quench your burning heart's thirst.

For after a long pouring rainy day,
The new dawn feels lighter in every way.
The ground gets it's purge
and is ready again for growing new ferns.
