🎤 OCT 6 SHOW RECAP 🎤 . CONTROLLED CHAOS. . Last night was about as rowdy as it gets — and we loved it. . Last week? Quiet. Subdued. A crowd that needed a little time to loosen up. . THIS WEEK? . They were fired up before the show even started. 😂 . A big birthday crew came out ready to support independent stand-up, and they brought enough energy for the entire room. . Sometimes that energy can be tricky. It’s not heckling — everyone’s having a great time — but suddenly the comics are competing with the audience’s good time for their attention. . And that’s where the fun started. . The comics adjusted. The crowd found the rhythm. And somehow the whole thing turned into a perfectly chaotic comedy show. . By the end of the night, people were telling us it was one of the BEST comedy shows they’d ever been to. . NO DUDS. 🔥 . That’s what Tuesdays are about. . Words can’t even begin to describe the amount of gratitude I feel right now. I’m beyond grateful for the family and friends who came out to support, cheered me on from afar and reached out to wish me good luck. Having @mayberebeca in my corner, being my biggest cheerleader and providing so much love and support makes me the luckiest person in the world. It was so special being able to share this day with you. Of course, a massive thank you to @arianetonka @heidijassinger and everyone at @justforlaughs and @justforlaughsmontreal for not only giving me my biggest opportunity in comedy but also a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. It was really cool being able to represent Ottawa with @thewillcurley It’s a city whose comedy scene punches far above its weight and is often overlooked by the general public. I find myself constantly jumping to Ottawa’s defence when people call it boring because I know the talent that’s in this city. While I’m Ottawa comedian, I’ll always be a New Brunswicker at heart and it felt surreal being able to share such a big stage with someone who is from the town next to hometown. Safe to say we made Grandbay-Westfield and Quispamsis proud. My entire world revolves around comedy and I love it more than I can describe. However, it is a game filled with rejection, frustration and self-doubt. As much as we all like sharing our highlight reels, the fact is that the more you grow, the wins become fewer and farther in between. Last night wasn’t just a win I wanted, it was a win I needed. Im using today to take it all in. Tomorrow it’s back to writing jokes and hitting mics and there isn’t anything else I’d rather do.
