A Restaurant That Certainly Deserves It’s Own Post… 😮

BERENJAK MAYFAIR (@berenjaklondon)- WOW. I’ve visited the Soho site a couple of times but this was my first visit to the Mayfair branch. What an absolute palace of deliciousness. Some thoughts in my head: Their Black Humous is the best in the world; The Kebabs are juicy boys and the Saffron chicken wow; GET THE SNACKS (on Drinks menu) - Prawns, Fritters, Jeez; The Breads are just unreal; The Spicy Chicken wings too; god I just love this place so much and super passionate about how unique it is, keep up the great work @kiansamyani and @jks_restaurants ❤️ 👏🏻 🔥

I’m thrilled to be working once more with some of the most inspiring individuals I’ve ever worked with, collaborating with @xbecca to represent @berenjaklondon in the UK.

Some pics from my first visit to the newest location in Mayfair. There are incredible jumbo prawns and double lamb chops exclusive to the location, as well as a whole list of excellent snacks to go with cocktails. I’m a Grown Up Doogh girlie.

It’s sophisticated and gorgeous and whilst I will always love the Soho OG Tehran-style kababi, we can all be both, can’t we? What a treat.

London's Michelin Bib Gourmand Iranian restaurant is coming to Chicago. Berenjak NOW OPENS OCTOBER 1ST at 113 N. Green St. in Fulton Market inside Soho House, open to the public. Chef Kian Samyani's menu is built around charcoal-grilled skewers, crispy flatbread, lamb khoresht, and spiced mezze rooted in the kebab house culture of Tehran. Let me talk to you about hummus.

Specifically that of famed Persian restauranteur @berenjaklondon

It’s the absolute tits. It is dreamy. You must eat it. They make it with black chickpeas, sunflower seed tahini, walnut and somagh. And it’s a creamy, flavour-packed delight.

That, with their flatbreads, extensive dip collection, charcoal grilled kebabs and OG fried potatoes makes them a huge favourite in my books.

I still haven’t made it to their original Soho site yet (tables are still encouragingly hard to come by) - founded by chef @kiansamyani in partnership with JKS Restaurants, is designed to mimic the traditional, hole-in-the-wall kabab houses found on the streets of Tehran.

BUT I’ve cheated on many occasions, by dining at their Soho Farmhouse outpost (an absolutely inspired collab).

Plus with sites now in Soho, Borough and Mayfair - no excuse for you not to go try that hummus too.

In love with @berenjaklondon is not an overstatement and I don’t think anyone wouldn’t be if they’ve eaten @berenjaklondon food.

Traditional Persian flavours with a fun and modern take, it’s @michelinguide Bib Gormand recommend for a very good reason and founder @kiansamyani and his team aim to please.

Their Koobideh Kabab is as juicy and flavourful as it can get with perfectly grilled minced lamb shoulder (in fact I’ve got mine grilled infront of me over their famous Berenjak fire), served with charred but still fresh tomato, a perfect mouthful eaten with salted butter saffron rice or baked to order sourdough seeded flatbread. Already very impressed with the mains, the hummus which is made from black chickpeas and walnut is sensational.

It’s the most perfect lunch which was only 35£ pp coming from their lunch menu 🤎

Come to Scotland please? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Last weekend I had the opportunity to enjoy Berenjak’s new home in Mayfair, London, and it instantly felt like one of those places you never want to leave. Warm and welcoming, we had a great family gathering where we share and savour every moment.
The food was simply delicious. Generous and perfect for sharing, each dish was better than the last. Also the service was impeccable, making us feeling like home.
Without a doubt, one of the best dinners we had all weekend in London.

Fresh London recommendations for the next time you touch down across the pond! 🇬🇧

Set-meal Sri Lankan: Excellent Bib Gourmand lunch featuring warming curries and the signature bowl shaped rip-and-dipper @hopperslondon (multiple locations).

Fish & Chips in a historic location: Choose from about 15 different fried fish at the takeout area of @fishboroughmarket. You need the side of mushy peas.

The martini service of your dreams: At the acclaimed @theconnaught bar in glitzy Maybourne.

Splurge meal: @humblechicken_uk, Chef @missionsato’s 2 Michelin-starred, omakase-style restaurant in Soho. Highlights: a wild mussel delicately filled with dainty avocado slices, “picnic-style” bread course with butter filled with black truffle, & an entree course that plays on the flavors of sukiyaki.

Kebabs with Soul: Persian restaurant @berenjaklondon with multiple locations. There are generous set meals perfect for one, but it’s surely more fun with a crowd. Chef @kiansamyani earned a Bib Gourmand using his family recipes. Multiple locations, including Los Angeles!

Elegant Thai that doesn’t hold back: The tasting menu @anglothai from John and Desiree Chantarasak in Marylebone includes some hits like a Brixham crab-filled coconut ash cracker with caviar and a sunflower seed panang that comes with potato bread.

Eat your veggies: @chef_chantelle’s brilliant Mayfair restaurant @apricityrestaurant celebrates the seasons, drives sustainability, and has a gorgeously feminine dining room. Love the flexibility to order a la carte or two different tasting menus. Pictured: asparagus with smoked emulsion, watercress, sourdough and the beautiful beet gazpacho.

Night cap: The late night crowd @baritaliasoho in Soho doesn’t disappoint and you can get on for real cheap.

Sweat the small stuff: Visit @gobanya.hoxton, a bathhouse in Hoxton. Alternate between the sauna that’s so hot you need ear protection to the Finnish bucket showers and cold plunge. Always book the Parenie Ritual to get a traditional oak leaf beating. Pause for some borsch.

Hear some jazz in a historic setting: @officialronnies has been going since 1959. Easy to snag late night tickets when you are jet-lagged.

If the original @berenjaklondon in Soho was meant to feel like a hole-in-the-wall in Tehran, this opulent new Mayfair outpost fees like somewhere that the Shah himself would have felt very at home, complete with sumptuous furnishings and a Playstation in the private dining room (there’s also a private table for two with the option of closing the curtains if you don’t want to watch the chefs in the open kitchen).
The food, served on silver platters, is as gorgeous as ever, whether Mayfair exclusives like the snacky spiced-sausage sambuseh to dip into zhoug, and the best French fries I’ve had for as long as I can remember, or the melt-in-the-mouth chicken kebab with a side plate of saffron rice under a crispy golden crust.
Portions are huge, so don’t be ashamed to ask for a doggy bag made out of paper so luxuriously stiff it wouldn’t disgrace Selfridges up the road.
