August Joy Drop.✨

This summer felt like the first one - maybe ever - that I felt like I could relax and fully enjoy myself. I actually felt present to all the beauty and the moments of magic in the every day. I noticed them and felt so grateful for them. I let myself rest and play and when I felt inspired to create or do, I let myself do that - without worrying about the results.

I felt a trust that I haven’t felt before that there’s a lot unfolding behind the scenes - and that I don’t have to be doing for things to be happening.

I let myself feel good and be in the enJOY-ment of my life, with the knowing that this is actually the best business (and life) strategy.

And while I feel some sadness that summer is coming to an end, I also feel so ready for a new season to begin (and I looooove fall). 🍂❤️

My joy round up from this past week-ish!

I paused before posting this because I don’t want to just post what looks like the highlight reel of my life and make it seem like there are no challenges happening behind the scenes (because there always are). But there are so many joyful moments happening all the time and I find sharing these posts makes me notice and appreciate them more (and what we appreciate, appreciates). And I love going back and looking at them - it’s like a little joy diary.

One of the best things about creating @joinjoyride at this stage of life has been having my family along for the ride.

When I started mini mioche, Emi was a baby and Weston wasn’t around yet. They were part of the journey, but this feels different.

This time, my kids are actually witnessing me step into something new - creating and building something from the ground up in real time. They see the highs and lows because I don’t hide them or pretend this is easy.

Recently, I was contemplating cancelling a joyrise (a morning joyride session) because no one had signed up.

It was my daughter who said:
“Mom, you can’t cancel it. People need to know - post about it, talk about it, share it… and then show up.”

Ooof. There’s nothing quite like getting schooled by your own kid, but it was also one of my proudest parenting moments.

At last night’s joyride, Emi’s friends and their moms came, and it felt so special to share the experience together.

As an entrepreneur and mom, I spent so many years carrying guilt about how much I worked. Feeling like I was never fully there for anyone.

But I see things through a different lens now.

I see that my kids got to witness me dream, build, fall down, keep going, do hard things, trust myself, follow my heart and my own path.

And I think that’s one of the greatest gifts we can give our kids: to model what it means to be human and to give them permission to dream, to follow their heart and to be who they really are.

I bought Mike a private sound bath for us to have a fun date night together, and gave it to him for Christmas… in 2024.😆

We finally went last night. It took us over two years to actually book it (a sign of the times).

It’s crazy how easy it is to get caught up in the day-to-day and not really prioritize the things that matter most - like having fun with the person you’re doing life with.

We’re trying to be better at that - planning actual date nights again. Making them fun (remember fun??).

We’ve started exploring our neighbourhood again (the coolest in the city IMO). We went to @seoulshakers.1241 last week and last night we went to @thebluebirdto, which had live music (such a good vibe!🎶). (Also why don’t more places have live music)?🤷‍♀️
