This piece was an honor to make. Anybody who knew Mickey knew the heart and love he carried with him and how much he shared that with his friends, family, and community. From a small town, I've always considered myself to have had about 10 sets of parents who all indirectly "raised" me (and us). Mickey was one of those men. A friend, a coach, a family man. And through his battle with cancer, he embodied the phrase "Be the Buffalo." In turbulent times, don't be the cow. Don't run from the storm. Be the buffalo. Face the storm head-on and charge through it with strength and determination. And if you become weak, the herd will carry you. I'm honored to have known Mickey. We all miss him dearly. He might not be here with us, but his legacy of heart and love lives on in Linda, Matt, Vince, and all who knew him. And Mick, I maybe should've listened when you tried telling me to be a lefty pitcher. Thank you. Love you all. #stuswood #memorial #garden #bethebuffalo

"Cows run away from the storm while the buffalo charges toward it – and gets through it quicker. Whenever confronted with a tough challenge, do not prolong the torment, become the buffalo. Face the storm." Remembering Mickey today. His strength and conviction. His love for others and his passion for life. Be the buffalo.
It was an honor and privilege to make these pieces for Matt and Vince. To honor Mickey's memory, I'm donating $100 to the American Cancer Society on their behalf. Additionally, I will be selling smaller versions of these pieces (12" for $25) and donating all proceeds to the ACS.
Mickey was a great man and his spirit lives on in so many. His lesson in courage is nothing short of inspirational. #BeTheBuffalo
